Is this happening when you are logged in as *the* admin with the userid of 1 (the one created during the install) or only for other admins?
Have you tried it in another browser besides FF?
I just tried this in Evo and it worked fine for me.
There’s only one user (default admin) and no roles.
I created a web resource group on the "Web Permissions" tab.
I edited the document and added it to the resource group.
I previewed the doc from the Manager and could see it fine.
Is it possible that you did one of the following:
1. Created your resource group on the Manager Permissions tab (this would make it invisible in the front end).
2. Previewed by going directly to the front end rather than right clicking on the resource and selecting Preview in the Manager?
Bob,
Thanks for testing. I have tried this many times with different setups and seem to have the same results.
Since I am building a new site in MODx, using the publications and tutorials available, is there any reason why I shouldn’t start out with Evo (1.0) instead of 0.9.6.3? Are the code changes mostly behind the scenes or will I have to relearn how to build a site? Does the new install come with the same resources that I have become familiar with? If so, there would be no reason to continue troubleshooting this issue.
Thanks again, Ian
I would definitely suggest using Evolution. The interface changes are minimal -- mostly terminology:
Resources -> elements
Document -> resources.
I believe the installed components are the same or similar.

if you create a "Web User group" and a "Resource Group", tie them together under "User/Resource Group links", create a "Web User" and assign him to the created "User Group/Resource Group" a manager still won’t be able to see the preview of a document with access permissions for the created Resource Group...in evolution too
You’re right.
I think this was reported as a bug a long time ago. I thought it had been fixed.
AFAIK, the default admin is supposed to be able to access anything in the front or back end.
