+1 more.
One of the main reasons I chose modx and stay with modx is the front end user ease.
1. Quick Edit or Quick Manager
2. MaxiGallery (for its front end gallery management)
3. FDM (for adding pages from the front end)
4. ManagerLogin (snippet on a custom page to login as manager but never go into the backend or see the /manager page)
With these 4, most users never have to enter the back end at all.
I am sticking with Evo for now, even though Revo looks great.

I agree with markoj, this is critical for our clients. We’ve been very excited about moving to Revolution, and we’ve been playing with Revolution and love it. But without a good frontend editing mechanism like QuickManager+, which is amazing, we have to stick with Evolution.

+1 -- really important feature for client side. Anything beyond the WYSIWYG and a few template variables causes cowering and heart palpitations.

The MODx front end manager was basically the biggest draw when people asked me what CMF they should use. After having their website developed, they just want to click on an edit button without worrying about a back end. It makes sense to most non tech folks and Evo is perfect in this regard. I hope a similar thing will be developed for Rev (I’m not going to program one myself! I’m just offering ready made solutions at this point). I’ll continue using Rev for my own projects... but Evo is the way to go for clients and friends.

FWIW, if this is a poll...
+1 from me, of course. I indeed postponed by web site rebuild until Revo was finally there, so I can afford to wait some more time.

I decided my first post after joining the MODx masses should be to bump this thread. Like others posting here I decided to jump into MODx for the front-end capabilities. I am usually the guy that gets called when the "web guy"" at small business x get his or her money and no longer returns phone calls, or owners suddenly realize that their brother-in-law-seo-guru was such a great decision. I am not an evangelist for any portal, framework, api, blog or cms. They all have their merits and uses except possibly xoops.
The speed of templating and getting a cms up and running is absolutely amazing in MODX. I spent a week or two wading though documentation and testing in localhost land. I jumped right in to Revolution assuming that front-end capabilities were part of the core as I read they were in Evolution. Surprise, after all that work.
1. Someone in the community better acquainted with the API needs to step up and fill this gap.
2. This lack needs to be mentioned somewhere more visible before new recruits like me click download.
3. Add this to the road map. It is probably one of the the biggest marketing draws you have in MODx versus pick-a-flavor competitor.
4. I was hooked as soon as I watched a front-end demo video.
Just my 2 cents as a new guy.
wait for it...

A quick editor is one of the first things I will show a client about MODx! they love it and it makes MODx usable for almost anybody.
I will not use Revolution for clients until there is a Quick Editor...
