A very GOOD implementation would be, the integration of sIFR technologie for replacing text with really good looking and antialiased fonts (flash). Or maybe another technique, but replcacing verdana and arial with better fonts for readability makes sense, in times of mass informations.

I hope readers of THIS POSTS get inspiration and create a team of interested and motivated developers to realize and share these concepts for free, instead of using them for own purposes and or forgetting about our feedback. I’m intersted in helping to realize these ideas.

I’m curious to know if anyone here has had the chance to play around with developing a MindMapping application that works with ModX for use with non-profits for use in visual problem solving for team collaboration.

Any help or info would be much appreciated.

This is forum specific, but also modx specific.
Forums need these features 100more than modx itself. The mindmapping solution is already production ready, but I think the design could be better.

Please adobt these techniques, they are revolutionary!

Well and this baby done with web2 manner!

Aaaand not to forget the need of Fyuze!
Maybe someone knows what it is, otherwise google it.
Too bad the homepage is currently down.

Fyuze is a "news aggregator" program - or in this case a site/service - that automatically collects information so that you don’t have to. Sign up for an account, tell fyuze what sites you read, and you’ll be able to - at a glance - see what news is new, each time you log on. This very interesting for people who want to stay updated on their forums, they’ll be able to receive ther fav forums and topics as RSS onto their palm or pc or whatever!

You gonna get popular as jesus, if you do that! tongue

          LDAP authentication.

          Supporting both users and groups.

I would love to be able to use LDAP to link in with either OpenDirectory or ActiveDirectory and assign Groups or OU’s to certain document groups and perhaps Security Groups in AD to editors etc.

          Other Features
          Polls
WebDav integration for downloading/editing/uploading content such as word documents - like what is used for sharepoint.
I can’t think of a couple of others I came across but I will post some ideas as I come to them.

WebDav would indeed be something I would use as well.

            • These last few posts really don’t seem to be talking about forum-specific features anymore folks...can we keep this topic focused on features for a native "forum" add-on for MODx?

My organization is presently using Vanilla with some good success for collaboration purposes.

Generally speaking, it would be interesting to see how the entire program could be imported into ModX to keep everything under one roof.

As a creative professional with an extensive background in writing and collaboration, the two most recent
items that I have come across that I think would be a highly worthwhile pursuit in terms of adding on to any forum module would be to add a component that would allow users to implement Mindmapping tools or learning objects as a method of improving online collaboration and visual learning.

Also, a tool that allows for brainstorming through the use of Post-it notes (in an online environment) would also be of interest.

If there’s anyone who would like to share notes or review some of the resources I have come across for both mindmapping and post-it notes collaboration, please reply to me off-list.

                Thanks.

I would like the forum to be as lightweight as possible and have a very strong focus on templating and flexibility.

Multiple forums from one installation (for example, one on www.sub1.mydomain.com and another one on www.sub2.mydomain.com) Typo3 had a forum script that could do this and was very usefull (to me atleast)
