  • I’ve switched from a fun Solaris VPS mainly because of somewhat limited email functionality (as they told me, they have other priorities - they’re working on their "cloud" offerings, which don’t interest me at all). I’m on Bluehost for now; the only thing I see that might be a problem for some is that they’ll throttle you if you reach certain bandwidth limits. No problem for me that I can see; I’m only hosting one other low-traffic domain besides my own right now anyway.

I reconfigured an html site on prohosting.com and had to ask for pdo set up. Only a small deal for what you pay for.
Justhost.com have three modxcms revo installations that are running smoothly for me. The reseller account at http://www.justhost.com/ is good value. imo.
      • I know its been a while since this post was added too but since the thread started, MODX Cloud has become available and is an excellent host of MODX websites. We believe MODX Cloud is the fastest way to develop, host and maintain your MODX Revolution websites. Think of it as a cloud-based development toolkit, with an advanced hosting platform all wrapped up in a neat intuitive dashboard.

If you are interested, check out https://modxcloud.com/ for some more information and even sign up for a free trial! For those interested in checking out the MODX Cloud Dashboard and features ahead of signing up for a free trial, check out the Quick start Video Series (https://modxcloud.com/userguide/quickstart/quick-start-video-series.html). There are three videos, the first giving you an overview of the Dashboard, the second an overview of Managing your Account and the last will talk about the myriad things you can do with the Clouds themselves.

If anyone has any questions at all, please do drop us a line through the contact pages - https://modxcloud.com/contact.html.

        All the best,

Seeing as this post has been resurrected I thought I'd chip in.

For anyone looking for a UK hosting company I'd really recommend Tsohost at https://www.tsohost.com/

Modx runs nice and fast on their cPanel platform, I have eight sites there. So I assume it would run even better on their virtual and dedicated servers.

Support is excellent and if you really don't want to upload and install yourself they also offer one-click installation and upgrades of ModX.

            My recommended web hosts:
            iPage: http://www.ipage.com
            Hostgator: http://www.hostgator.com
            GoldPuma: http://www.goldpuma.com

All these three services provide 1-click installer for MODx. My favorite company is Hostgator which offers reliable hosting plans at affordable prices. [ed. note: mmodxx last edited this post 9 years, 8 months ago.]

              • I have had serious problems with sites on Hostgator with alarming frequency lately. I'm almost to the point of refusing to take on a job when I find out that's the hosting provider.

And I have never had any success with any of the one-click installers. That's not a feature of the hosting provider anyway, it's part of whatever third-party installer they use, such as Scriptaculous.

I had no problem with Hostgator. By the way, they offer Mojo Marketplace not Scriptaculous. And this company has been also selected as one of the top 3 MODx hosting services at http://www.threehosts.com/simplescripts/modx.html

Those aren't legitimate recommendation sites, they're just backlink spam.

Works good with Modx, this "cheap" Dutch host: keurigonline.nl
Evolution user, I like the back-end speed and simplicity smiley
