Hi, I know there is a decription on how to move site to another server (which is not quite clear for me anyway...) but could anyone help me please by telling exactly what should I do to move modx site from subfolder to main domain address on the same server? If it is still includes intalling site locally, how do I actually do this? is it just copying files to hard drive?

Just copy the files to the right location and change the htaccess file if you activated friendly url’s
        with regards,

Also don’t forget to do the following as well:

Log in to the Manager area of MODx, go to Tools >> Configuration >> File Manager and for "File Manager Path:", change the path to the new directory. Also click on the "Interface and Features" tab next to the "File Manager" tab and for "Resource Path", change the path there as well. And then you should be good to go.

No i haven’t activated friendly URLs yet. Do I have to change anything in .htaccess? Or just copy files and it will work?

To my knowledge and experience in migrating the site over from one directory to another, you shouldn’t have to touch the .htaccess file (maybe there is something I’ve been missing, but so far I haven’t had any problems).  Just copy the files over, change your configuration settings and give it a run...I do it all the time...shouldn’t be any problems.  If you do have any problems, just post up here on the forums.

Try doing an upgrade install on the new site. http://newsite.com/install

That should clear out the site cache and set the necessary variables. Be sure to clear your browser cache and cookies as well.

You should if you have friendly url’s turned on, you have to change "RewriteBase /"

for example if you develop your website on "http://www.domain.ext/subdir/" you have to set that to "RewriteBase /subdir/"
and if you want to move it to "http://www.domain.ext/" you have to set it back to "RewriteBase /".

                    Thanks for replies.

Because I don’t have frindly URL’s on, this is what I did:
                    - copied files to new directory
                    - changed in tools all paths
                    - I did nothing with htaccess.

how can I clear cache without upgrading installation? I don;t want to install anything again, I am afraid that I will lose all my settings etc. (it took me long time to make everything work...) .

Error I got seems to be about AjaxSearch , do I have to change anything in its settings?

just found solution - error said that couldnt find directory, so I checked path for ajax search and actually the file names were wrong starting with small "a" but in path was capital "Ajax" . I changed folder and file names. The site is working now, but Ajax search is not..... so something was missing during copying files I suppose. How can I get this AjaxSEarch working again?
