    Hi again.

I have a site due to go live soon and I was just wondering about the friendly url’s as if this works it will save me having to do a htaccess file to redirect everything.

Some of the pages of the old sites are hel in diffrent folders for example the business_news_archive.html page is held in the news folder so my question is if i set the friendly urls on and named the alias for that page under modx to "news/business_news_archive" would that actually work huh??

    Thanks

Right, I’ve just noticed that it strips the "/" out of the alias, I presume that is a security feature. Is there any way round this ?

Yes. You can use the Strict URLs plugin! You can set a parameter to force containers to use trailing "/" smiley

No, not a security feature, but an integrity feature. If you use friendly alias paths, and place your documents in the actual hierarchy they will be presented in via URL, you shouldn’t have any problems achieving this, but you cannot create arbitrary paths within a document alias.
