      It seems that your file is corrupted during ftp. You can simply upload it again and see what happens.

          Something is very wrong here; that path is not correct, it should be /manager/processors/login.processor.php

          Where did you get the version you’ve installed? What version does the file /manager/includes/version.inc.php say it is?

            I DL it from this site (http://modxcms.com/) last night and installed this morning.

            The zip file name is modx-0961p2

            I tried the string you mentioned and got the same error again!

            If you want to look at it I can PM you the login info.

            /manager/includes/version.inc.php gives me a blank page

              That is really weird... I just downloaded it and installed it on my local server, and it’s installing just fine.

              For some reason it’s adding the path to the php file that serves the login form to the path to the login processor form.

              I meant to actually open that file in a text editor and view the code to see what version it says it is; if you access any of the php file via your browser they will return either a blank page or an error, since they can only be called from the actual Manager via your browser for security reasons. Anyway, since you are using the release version from the main download page, that’s not necessary any more.

              The more I think about it, the more I think it is a problem with your server configuration having an unfortunate effect on the code in the manager/includes/config.inc.php file that automatically determines your site’s base path and URL. I ran across something similar once on an oddly configured server and had to manually hard-code the base_path and base_url values into the config.inc.php file.

                I contacted my host support and here is what they have to say about it.

                Here is what is being output to the error_log. You will need to contact the script developer and see what they have to say about this:

                [Sun Jul 13 08:00:29 2008] [error] [client 89.172.6.62] File does not exist: /home/mysite/public_html/manager/media/style/MODxLight/processors/login.processor.php

                What would be the next step?

                PS. My host has been so far a 1st class service

                  Well, we already knew that. Without more information on the server configuration, here’s a temporary workaround, and it won’t help if this rears its head in other places in the Manager.

                  The page that is displayed when you get the login form is in /manager/media/style/MODxLight, and it’s named login.html.

                  Go into the folder that you unzipped on your local machine and find that file. Open it in a text editor, and change this line, line 194:
                      <form method="post" name="loginfrm" id="loginfrm" action="processors/login.processor.php">

                  Change the action="processors/login.processor.php" to "/manager/processors/login.processor.php". Then upload the file into your site’s manager/media/style/MODxLight folder. That should at least get you in to the manager.

                  Obviously something is adding the path to the login.html file to that relative path. Hopefully changing that to an absolute path (starting with /, which is your web root) will solve the immediate problem.

                    After another fresh install with another FTP client I get a new error!

                    Warning: include_once(../../manager/frames/browsercheck.inc.php) [function.include-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/mysite/public_html/manager/frames/1.php on line 4

                    Fatal error: Call to a member function property() on a non-object in /home/mysite/public_html/manager/frames/1.php on line 5

                    On line 4 in 1.php I find this:
                    include_once ("../../manager/frames/browsercheck.inc.php");

                    but in the frames folder there is no such file??

                    why me huh

                      Ok, something in your server configuration is causing it to add the current file’s full path to the relative path or URL being used. There’s nothing I can do about that. Maybe somebody else will have some idea what to do about it.
