Second installation upgrade stuck

So when I created the subdomain in the CPanel, I had it use a completely different path than the primary.

Primary = /home/<name>/public_html
Dev = /home/<name>/dev_html

I didn't want to work inside a subdirectory of the public just in case we made some mistakes on the file system..

So what kind of impact does that have?

1. created a subdomain in /home/domain/dev_html/
2. created my database and installed MODX
3. renamed ht.access to .htaccess
4. installed one of my packaged starter sites

Works just fine, as you can see here.
