Not dumb. And I can empathize with your frustration. It is confusing. But — there is a silver lining. Once you get the hang of it, it's really an amazing system. Hang in there.

The template you'll be looking for is in the Elements tree.
In the Elements tree are the Templates, Template varialbles, Chunks and Snippets. The key is that we have to figure out which template is being used. Sometimes there can be several. Sometimes one template can be used to drive an entire site.

I've attached a file for your review. I dont see a tab titled as "Elements". Is it possible that I don't have an appropriate level of administration?

Hmmmm. Level of admin might be an issue. Not things are making more sense. Certainly the Elements section contains items that can completely wreck the site.

So are there other people who have logins? Are you the only person?

Yes, the guy who set the site up, is no longer with us. I'm going to contact him and see if I can get his access. Thanks so much for your help. I'll report back with what I find. Your help and guidance is truly appreciated.

Sure. I'll keep an eye on this post. Or you can private message me. If you are able to login, just exercise caution. A little bit of random clicking here and there can foul things up.

If links like that are built in the template like I think, they really shouldn't be. Users need to be able to make updates, and there are ways of accomplishing that without having to go into the template to do it.

You may also want to make sure that you have the logins for your web hosting and for your domain name.

Ok, so one last question. I have domain and hosting login. Is there a way to reset the Modx adminstrative level that I have been granted? Assuming I cannot get a hold of this previous provider.

Yes. There are ways. I've never done it before. But a friend I am skyping with sent some links and knows quite a lot about MODx and that type of thing.
