pls, look into the source code of that website page. what path does there show up?
If that path is wrong, look where your css resides and correct that manually.
Or have a look into Tools/Configuration/Interface & Features and Tools/Configuration/File Manager

      - Are the paths there correct?
      - if so try to set your file permissions to the highest level (if its a development and demo environment)

And please, if you do not exactly describe what you are trying to to nobody will be able to help you.

Sorry if I am being a bit hazy but sleep deprivation is getting to me.
I will list everything I can think of.
Basically I can preview and see all the pages, and the links work, but the style sheet seems to be missing in the editor and when viewing the pages
I am only getting the page without the styling.

The folder scouts is in the htdocs on xamp.
To get to the index page - http://localhost/scouts
The style sheet is in the scouts folder - style_one.css
The coding for the style sheet is <link href="/style_one.css" rel......../>
        The coding for base href="http://localhost/scouts/"

the settings I have for configuration are:
        resource path- /scouts/assets/
        resource url- assets/

the file manager path - /scouts

So far as I can see the the paths are correct

I am using windows xp if thats any help.
How do I set the file permissions to the highest level?
At present if I go to properties for the folders - Manager - read-only
From what I have read today the permissions should be set to 777 but you cannot do this with xp and to leave as read-only

                do you mean the
a: style sheet used in the managers editor
b: style sheet used in the website

                if a: /Tools/Configuration/Interface&Features -> Path to CSS file: should be e.g. /assets/templates/css/your.css
if b: publish a page in the manager, look at it as if you were an standard user , do a CTRL-U (showing the source code of that published page and post it here)

                  Hi
Thanks for all the help, I got some help from the person who had set up modx on the actual website initially he could not see what the problem was, we moved everything to a new folder and then redirected everything from there and it worked just in the nick of time for the demo at the scout hall.

Then I got a good nights sleep.

Thanks once again to everyone who tried to help.
