Answered Manager not loading information properly after moving and white screen at end of setup

    I can't access the manager properly. I recently changed the site from being on a test server to being on a live URL. The front of the site is looking good and funcitoning as expected, however, I am getting a white screen at the end of running setup. Afterwards I can log into manager, but its not functioning correctly and information not loading into it. Screen shot attached. I have checked the error log but not sure what it means. Have attached a screen shot of that as well.

    Happens every time. I have tried clearing cache and cookies and browsing history then restarting and same thing happens. Also logging out of manager doesn't seem to work.



    • MODX Revolution 2.2.14-pl (advanced)
    • PHP Version: 5.3.10-1ubuntu3.11

      How did you transfer the site files? Uploading all the files with FTP often skips or corrupts some files. It's best to zip them up, upload the .zip file, then unzip on the server.

      You can try just replacing all of the files in the /manager/ directory.

        I didn't need to move them as simply the URL changed. I followed similar steps to the moving a directory though to update the URL but I'm not getting any file not found stuff in the error log so I don't think that's the problem. When you say replace the manager folder do you mean replace it with a fresh manager folder or do you mean with a backed up version?

          Check the config.core.php file in the connectors folder. The only time I've seen that error was when I accidentally moved the connectors folder.

            Hmm, no, I think that's where it should be. In fact just checked with the clean download of modx and its definitely where it should be.

            What about this idea of replacing the manager folder? Can you tell me more about that option?

              Just unzip a MODX zip on the server, and with whatever file manager utility your hosting uses, copy or move the /manager/ directory to your existing installation. All files can be overwritten, but I would strongly recommend using the same version of MODX.

                OK, so I've tried updating the manager from a fresh modx installation, and from a backup and same thing happens. I replace the files, clear the cache in the modx source, and the browser. Change 'manager/config.core.php' to the correct URL and now I'm getting to see slightly more of the dashboard screen but no resource tree and links not working etc. I'm really getting stuck on what to try next!

                I'm now getting this message:

                And here is lines 60 - 73 where that error is supposed to be:

                When I compare this to the same file in other working sites it seems correct to me. I'd be very grateful if anyone had any suggestions!

                  Try this:

                  Change line 7 above:

                  $http_host= $_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'];


                  to this:

                  //$http_host= $_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'];


                  That should turn off that error, though I'm not sure it will fix the site.

                  Also, go into the database in PhpMyAdmin, and in the modx_system_settings table, turn off the compress_js and compress_css System settings (change the 1 to a 0 for both).

                    Thanks for your reply. There is no longer an error in the log but unfortunately I still can't get access to the back end. Screen shot attached. Any other ideas? I'm out of ideas now!

                      Sorry to bump but not sure where to go from here. Anyone got any ideas? Or willing to even take it on potentially as a paid job? I've basically made this site which I can't invoice for until I can give them backend access.
