Perhaps I should delete the core/cache and run the setup now just to see if that clears things up?

Would be good to know what's still causing that specific error.

Sidenote, with a bit of good news. I just quickly checked my other MODx site I'd been having issues with, and I don't see any of the malicious php cache files and there was no user added, and no plugins that I did not install myself. Phew!

Definitely run Setup, but don't proceed with it unless the "Upgrade" checkbox is checked.

Ran the set up. All seems to go well. But same issues with disappearing items in the tree still persists. And then the blank page.
I deleted the core cache, and was able to log back in, but now, no web pages display on the public side.
Still getting those same errors.

I don't think that the install created a new index.php.
I'll rename index.php.bak back to be index.php

I continually, eventually get the white page. I think delete core/cache and the site will load again and I can access the manager.

Not sure if this is normal or not, but each time I delete the core/cache, the number of items is different. 12 earlier, now 14, and for a while it was 13 files deleted. Perhaps that's normal?

Would SiteCheck be of any assistance in my current situation. I was looking at it yesterday thinking I should get it.

Your server is configured so you can't use fopen() by URL.

http:// wrapper is disabled in the server configuration by allow_url_fopen=0

This is attempting to fetch a Gravatar image. I think the ability to disable this feature will be released soon. In the meantime, you should be able to simply remove that whole Gravatar section from /manager/controllers/default/header.php beginning with line 105 to line 119, leave line 120 (now line 105) and remove line 121 (now line 106). The getUserImage function should look like this:

        /** @var modUserProfile $userProfile */
        $userProfile = $this->modx->user->getOne('Profile');

        if ($userProfile->photo) {
            // First, handle user defined image
            $src = $this->modx->getOption('connectors_url', MODX_CONNECTORS_URL)

                .$userProfile->photo;
            $userImage = '<img src="' . $src . '" />';
        } else {
                $userImage = '<i class="icon-user icon-large"></i>';
        } 

        return $userImage;
    }

You may or may not see the default image, but at least you won't get that error any more.

Basically getting tons of the same wrapper error with two new ones thrown in related to cachng actionmap and lexicon topic.
