Looks like the issue is only on shared hosting? Same issue on both shared hosts I tested. When I create my own server in Linode using Ubuntu 14.04lts and migrate modx I don't have the issue.
Must be related to server resources?

Can you tell us more about the shared hosting environments? What providers did you try?
Namecheap and eleven2. I think they run centos and php 5.3.
Must be a server-issue with the saved json-string or something like that.
Can anyone hazard a guess as to whether this is related to different php versions on the servers I tried to migrate to. Any ideas where to even start fixing this apparent json issue? Why would there even be a json issue? If I build a website on my server and can't transfer Migx data to a client server it's a major issue. File permission, syntax issue, db collation?
Thanks
