I have just gone into my hosting account and changed the PHP version from 4.5 to 5.4. Now my website does not load the homepage, I just get the following message

    « MODx Parse Error »

MODx encountered the following error while attempting to parse the requested resource:
    « PHP Parse Error »

    PHP error debug
Error: date(): It is not safe to rely on the system's timezone settings. You are *required* to use the date.timezone setting or the date_default_timezone_set() function. In case you used any of those methods and you are still getting this warning, you most likely misspelled the timezone identifier. We selected 'Europe/Berlin' for 'CEST/2.0/DST' instead
    Error type/ Nr.: - 2048
    File: /homepages/17/d313524938/htdocs/manager/includes/document.parser.class.inc.php(770) : eval()'d code
    Line: 13

    Parser timing
    MySQL: 0.0144 s (0 Requests)
    PHP: 0.0211 s
    Total: 0.0355 s

Please can someone tell me what I need to do? Someone mentioned changing the MySQL password but I am unsure how/where to do that. Any help would be great
    Thank you

The problem is your date.timezone settings for PHP. If you cannot set this in your php.ini file, then you should be able to do so in your .htaccess file.

Thank you. Sorry one more quick question. My file is actually name ht.access rather than .htaccess, will that make a difference?

yes, you need to rename it to .htaccess otherwise the server wont recognise it

Sorry me again...I have just uploaded new .htaccess file and received this message on my website homepage:

                    Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

                    Any ideas?

                    Thanks DS

ok first off rename it back to ht.access as that will stop the server error, then post the contents of it here and give us some information about your hosting enviroment
