It sounds like your server is suPHP based which prohibits the use of php_value flags in the .htaccess file. You will need to create a custom php.ini file in order to resolve the problem.

If you ask your hosting provider they can tell you more about setting one up.

@AMD Builder, hes set it as Europe/England, as far as I know thats not a php time zone, should it not be php_value date.timezone "Europe/London" ?

Ok tried London too, no luck. Problem is I cant even access my site through mydomain.co.uk/manager as it is still a 500 internal error. By adding that line it appears to have automatically added the following to my ht access:

              #php_value date.timezone Europe/England
              amended lin 8 and:

php_value date.timezone "Europe/England"# Fix Apache internal dummy connections from breaking [(site_url)] cache

I cannot get it back to how it was, I just have the 500 error

rename the .htaccess file back to h.taccess and then rename then delete everything in the core >> cache folder

                    @ distant_smile

You are on a 1&1 server

The solution with the .htaccess file wont work

You need to add a php.ini file in the manager folder and in the root folder with the time zone

Thank you. So create to files named php.ini each containing a single line :

                      php_value date.timezone "Europe/England"

Upload one to the manager folder and one to the root folder. Is that correct?
