Now I get
Warning: unlink(/home/virtual/site192/fst/var/www/html/assets/cache/docid_1.pageCache.php): Permission denied in /home/virtual/site192/fst/var/www/html/manager/processors/cache_sync.class.processor.php on line 59

Warning: fopen(../assets/cache/siteCache.idx.php): failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/virtual/site192/fst/var/www/html/manager/processors/cache_sync.class.processor.php on line 215
Cannot open file (../assets/cache/siteCache.idx.php)
The assets/cache/docid_*.pahecache.php files are all owned by "APACHE"
The assets/cache/index.php and 2 others are owned by "skylineking" my domain is skylineking
Wait... the FILES inside the folder assets/cache are not world-writable. I cant change them to world writable.. I tried... it tells me action failed!
I understand... I am logged in as skylineking... the other files are owned by Apache... I need to be the owner to change the attributes... i think
How do i change the ownership of files.. or do I need to even do that? probably not. skylineking is the only mysql administrator, I believe modx manager uses the skylineking login to log into my site as the MySql manager to make changes... thats how the CMS works right?
So the problem appears to be that the assets/cache files are owned by Apache... and modx manager is logged in as skylineking... right?
The only is:
siteCache.idx.php
is owned by skylineking.. yet I get the error
Warning: fopen(../assets/cache/siteCache.idx.php): failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/virtual/site192/fst/var/www/html/manager/processors/cache_sync.class.processor.php on line 215
Cannot open file (../assets/cache/siteCache.idx.php)
Why is permission denied if the file is world writable and readable plus it is owned by skylineking (thats how i changed the attributes)
The only thing I can think of is the error is a result of the other errors.

From the manager, click to empty the cache. If you can’t, navigate via FTP and manually delete them. (Don’t delete sitePubishing.idx.php or siteCache.idx.php)
755 should be adequate to eliminate the error but some folders will be world r/w you control. It depends on what is in the folders. If there are scripts that can be executed then those should not be world writeable/executable but if the files just need to be accessed or modified but do not execute any script there is ususally no harm in exposing those.

I deleted the ones that cause errors, except now i get
Warning: fopen(../assets/cache/siteCache.idx.php): failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/virtual/site192/fst/var/www/html/manager/processors/cache_sync.class.processor.php on line 215
Cannot open file (../assets/cache/siteCache.idx.php)
When I click Clear Cache. You said not to delete that one... its world writable... but it still throws that error when I click clear cache everytime.
now i cant get into my primary domain anymore. It tell me

Okay, if you have a copy of MODx on your local computer upload the defaul /assets/cache folder up to your server. Set the permissions to 777 and try again. The files are don’t have the correct permissions and on an Apache API server (which yours appears to be) is going to have to have 777 on that folder.
Let me know when you have this fixed. I am here to help.

Ok, 777 is Read, Write, Execute for Owner, Groups, Others RIGHT?
If so, What you told me to do fixed my site, it runs again, and I am going to see about making a new template now...
Ok, it worlked, now i can create templates.. and delete them... no errors... thanks awsome!
SO what was the problem..? I only replaced the assets/cache folder... with defaults... what was missing?
And now that I can make templates.. SHOULD I start to design my own template for what I want my site to look how? How is this done, I would like to change colors.. pictures... etc... is there a read-me? Or do most people use an existing template.
Also... my root directory is \html (\html\assets\cache\*)
It shows up as Not Writable. Of course it isnt 777. Should it be? Then people could edit anything in there, right?
Why when I am logged in as the admin does it still prevent Modx from being able to upload files... unless the folders are 777?

To design a template what most people do (myself included) is to build a flat HTML template in your favourite editor and then once you have completed it go to Manager->Manage Resources->Templates and create a new template. You copy and paste the template into there and add a few template tags and there you go. I would refer you to the template that comes in the MODx base install to compare.
Here is an article from the Wiki:
http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/Beginner%27s_Guide_to_MODx#Creating_the_Template
Best of luck. Since the installation is solved if you have new problems use search to find answers, and then start new threads where appropriate.
Cheers,
Jay
