Not particularly, but 0.9.6 was released at the end of May and I think it has helped

I don’t know why it’s there, but other OS-CMS’es has the same increase there:
I first thought it could be because of a change in the way they were recording the stats. But that doesn’t seem to be the case. 3 other (top traffic) sites show no bump there:
So my guess is that something related to opensource cms’ around mid june...

That is a very interesting trend with OS CMSs. Hmm what would have changed in the world to cause the traffic. It seems almost unreal.

Doesn’t make sense to me to see that kind of spike..

I am trying to figure it out too... I looked up some other CMS websites in the comparison, like Textpattern and CMS Made Simple and it fits also ?!?

I think that it is the stats site. If you look at
Alexa.com’s graphs and look at 1 year view you will see that there is no spike. I think that there needs to be a correction on that other site that they may have made on the high profile sites like Facebook and Myspace.

Regarding the increase of worldpress traffic, remember that their traffic was not
very high when they were a solo application, they were battling with textpattern
for attention.
It took to open the software to the general masses, making it
just a simple application for anybody to click and setup a blog thing, to really
make it famous and get a lot of traffic and money.
Joomla and other CMS, are trying to do the same. But it is more complex to do it
with a portal kind of software that with a blog platform where a great selection of
themes/skins and a "normal" set of features will please 95% of the users.
I dont think MODx will fit in this "mass" model ever... and thus its beauty too...
but should it have some of that appeal?
Should it have a x-size of features where the general public can come and install
a simple website just by pointing and clicking. And if there is the need for more, either
learn to do it or hire somebody to make the site better... food for thought...

Hmm, a modx that makes it way like e.g. SuseLinux did (getting more microsoftish until unusability) would be no more a modx I like.
Maybe a spin off like Typo light?
As a marketing man I would try to spread the word about modx which is in Germany mostly unknown.
Really ?
I was under the impression modxcms.de was doing a pretty good job, doesn’t it ?
There are even forums there and they seem active...
I have ignoreBoards active thus I don’t have the post activity for the german boards but I’ll check that !
