Answered Articles/Quip

    When a comment is submitted on a blog post I can view (approve, delete etc.) it in Menu > Components > Quip, but it's missing from the specific blog post in the Articles container despite it being counted in the little “speech bubble” icon in the main post listing. When go to the Comments tab for the specific post where the comment is supposed to appear I see this

    quip.thread_err_nf


    I've deleted the quip tables and removed and reinstalled the add-on. During installation Quip throws a load of errors but it still shows as being installed correctly so I'm not sure what to make of it. Apart from this issue the comments seem to work fine; they appear on the front-end after being approved and I can still manage them from the Components menu.

    Ideas?

      and http://bugs.modx.com/issues/6591 seem to suggest it is an unreproduceable and complicated bug ...there are some possible solutions of cleaning the DB.

      But...

      Did you by chance change the naming convention of your comment thread in your Quip call?

      [[!Quip? &thread=`article-b[[*parent]]-[[*id]]`]]

      B
      [[!QuipReply? &thread=`article-b[[*parent]]-[[*id]]



      Menu > Components > Quip will always show your comments, simply because it is the father add-on manager page.
      And your website will show the correct comments only if A and B match

        My Quip calls are different from your example,

        [[!Quip? &thread=`Articles` &threaded=`0` &useCss=`0` &tplComment=`modifiedComment`]]


        [[!QuipReply? &thread=`Articles` &moderate=`1` &tplAddComment=`Quip Form`]]


        I wasn't clear as to what to use for &thread. Could that be the problem?

          Quip can be used outside of Articles, and indeed Articles Extra piggy-backs on Quip.

          To use Quip, you need a thread name; that's how Quip knows which blog is using it.

          My site.com/about.html has a comment section; the thread name is &thread=`about`
          My site.com/chat.html has a comment section; the thread name is &thread=`chat`

          Articles allows for multiple Containers (parents), and soon you'd be having thousands of blog entries.
          To use Quip it uses a very specific naming convention, so that it never gets mixed up.....
