Probably not, but it might cause other problems. See this for a fix: http://bobsguides.com/convert-db-utf8.html

You probably know this, but you could change this:
```
$message = 'Hello '.($user->is_logged_in() ? $user->get('first_name') : 'Guest');
```
to this:
```
$name = $user->is_logged_in() ? $user->get('first_name') : 'Guest'
$message = 'Hello ' . $name;
```
