Talking about removing it, should we remove Articles entirely?

I've got a few sites using Articles. I don't use comments but use disqus instead. Now that I've discovered the url/alias isn't quite working https://forums.modx.com/thread/87467/articles-url-incompatible-with-container-suffix#dis-post-481767 what are we left with.

I could just use regular resources with packages

Actually I think the only reasons I'm using Articles are

    1. Lazy install of most of the above packages
    2. Alternate manager interface to manage lots of posts instead of the standard tree

Instead of Articles why don't we deal with point 2 by having a new resource type, "Container Grid". It's a container but its children get the grid listing treatment instead of the regular treetment (did you see what I did there?)

At ModXPO Bert demonstrated his new SimpleCart which shows the products listed by an Articles style grid so clearly the "Container Grid" would be useful to more than just Articles.

Alternately, just think of Articles as being an instruction to the system to display children in a container grid.

I do think there could be value in separating the "use container grid in manager" function from the "use integrated comments/pagination/archiving/tagging/RSS" function. (Indeed, for MODX - which is usually obsessive about granularity - Articles is a bit of a departure from normal practice.) But I'm personally finding everything I want to use a container grid for is going into Articles anyway. Your mileage may vary.

Has anyone tried having Articles show in the regular Resource tree? It's easy enough to do, but I wonder if Edit and Quick update would still work properly. For Edit, would you end up at the Articles editing panel or the regular Create/Edit document panel?
