My site has container_suffix set to blank so that Containers display as my-container-alias.html instead of my-container-alias.html
For the Articles though this inserts the .html half way through the url
mydomain.com/articles-main-alias.html/2013/11/01/article-post-alias/
so Articles is playing by different rules.
If you right-click on the Articles container and select "Manage Articles," on the General tab, there's a setting at the bottom for the Articles URL format. You might be able to fix it there.
Also make sure you have this in the head section of your Articles templates:
<base href="[[++site_url]]" />
Had all that Bob. Unfortunately Articles is sticking .html after the article container alias but before the article alias.
Is it feasible to just operate without the extension?
That's what I did with my blog, even though the rest of the site all has the .html extension.
Yes it's feasible but all the pages are in now and I don't fancy re-implementing them. However I found out today the client isn't bothered with .html half way through the alias so I've got away with this one.
LOL. The client may change his or her mind after a few people comment on it.
You shouldn't have to redo any pages at all. Just change the content-type suffix for text/html to blank, though external links to the site will be wrong and may need a rewrite rule.
