Alright, I am new to ModX. I've looked at it in the past and this time I decided to dive in. So far, I am quite impressed. Now, I am a PHP developer but instead of writing my own CMS, I am just trying to find something that is feature rich, decently easy to use and customizable. Now, I think I found all of that with ModX however, I am having some issues. The biggest problem I am having is the damn site_name variable. I changed the site_name from "MODX Revolution" to my websites name "Phoenix, AZ | Recoil Networks, LLC" however, when I view the website it is still showing "MODX Revolution". I checked the database and the database has the new string. I cleared the cache and even checked from another machine that has never visited the website before. When I remove the [[++site_name]] variable from my <title> tag, "MODX Revolution" disappears, as expected. So, what the hell am I missing?

Also, I am having an issue with FURLS. Now the server this is all installed on is a CentOS 6.4 64 bit VMware virtual machine that I manage, even VMware. I own the hardware as well so I can make any necessary changes I need to. I have FURLS enabled, and even read the documentation that states one of the variables is deprecated for the other. I do have both variables set to "Yes" and the htaccess file correctly in place however, the URL's are still not being generated. I have "Resource Aliases" set for each page as well. Again, I have cleared the cache and checked from another machine that has never visited the website. What the hell is going on?

Thank you for any and all help, it is much appreciated.

Any time you make changes to System Settings or Context Settings you need to clear site cache in order to reflect those changes on your site, also clear your browsers cache just to be safe as well.

      Good Luck.

banmarte: Before you go wasting my time and yours, why not read the entire post and, more importantly, comprehend it before you reply? I did clear the cache and my original post says that I did. I am not stupid. I know what caching is, probably more so than you do. I understand many different types of caching: operating systems, websites, storage arrays, IP cameras, etc. so don't treat me like an idiot. Read the post and comprehend it before you reply and make yourself look like an ass.

Take a quick look in the .htaccess to make sure the two "Furls part" are un commented -- remove the hash if it is there.

As far as the cache goes, there are times when you may have to manually delete everything in /core/cache All the sub-directories and files. MODX will recreate them on the fly.

          Leave the cache folder...

If this still doesn't get it all, try clearing the cache, log out of the manager, re upload the files to site, re run setup, and select upgrade.

See if this gets you going.

          Welcome to the MODX family.

I don't know where you got the assumption that I was treating you like an idiot or that you are stupid clearly you are not, you just seem to be a prima donna who doesn't know the difference of someone trying to help a new user.

If I wanted to be a prick or an ass as you state I could have taken a screenshot of the Clear Cache button and asked you if you were clicking it correctly or hard enough, you know just to make sure you weren't stupid tongue

Anyways, hopefully Shawn's recommendation of manually deleting the cache folders contents solves your issues other than that I would say it might be something with your hosting environment that MODX doesn't like.

I will post on Twitter to see if any other users have knowledge with MODX on CentOS to get more eyes on this post, hopefully someone can help solve your issues.

            Good luck.

redhat/centos/fedora are the defacto standard from web hosting -- at least in my world. MODX does not require much other than PDO and a certain minimum "normal" hosting environment.

Original poster may need to check the apache config and make sure they are allowed to do rewrites. Default apache packages in RH installations may have those turned off.

Now this is going to be a stupid thought, however did you add settings within the context? If you set site_name within your context settings it would override the default. Double check that.

As to you giving Benmarte crap, he has been around a long time and for you to come in here and straight up attack him after he was trying to help is just outrageous. Knock yourself down a peg or soon that rather large head of yours wont be able to fit through the door!!! Who care's what you know about caching, who care's if you think you know/do know more than any of us. You asked for help, people give it and you throw it in their faces. So like I said, step back and think about what you just did!!!

Being as helpful as I am, I would suggest you wrap your project up in a Vagrant box and push the files in a version control system that we can access, then we can help you further with your issue. From what you have stated, this seem to be a Operating System level issue rather than a MODX issue.

MODX isn't too complex and its quite easy to get up and running. If you need anymore assistance with this or more helpful input please do what I stated above.

                    Have a Good Day.

recoilnetworks: can you open up core/cache/system_settings/ and check the contents of the file in there? Search for the site_name variable and check if it says MODX Revolution or your own site name. If it says MODX Revolution
, there might be an intermediate caching level happening. Did you enable cache_db? If so, try disabling it again.
