Alright, now that I have every ones attention. Thank you for the assistance. I ended up deleting the cache directories manually and everything is functioning now.

I do apologize to benmarte for jumping on you for trying to help me and I hope you accept my apology.

Now, can anyone tell me why the "Clear Cache" option in the menus in the Manager does not work? Also, I have caching turned off, or so I thought I did. Does turning caching off not work either?

    Thank you.

This could be down to server configuration why turning off caching is not working, can you try your code on a different server environment and see if you are having the same issues.

Oh come on now, you're going to blame the server configuration? Can you specifically state why you would blame the OS? All caching modules I have seen in PHP scripts have had nothing to do with the OS configuration, quite possible PHP and / or Apache, but not down to the OS. I can't really dig into the configuration unless I know what I am looking for either.

So we have all been using MODX for years and don't have your specific issue, can you tell me why this would be a MODX issue rather than a server issue? can you just try and setup your project on another machine to make sure of what is happening. You do realise none of us are in the same office as you, working on the same thing as you, we are in different locations and unless we have your environment we cant tell you specifically what you have setup wrong.

If you can't do that it will be very difficult to get any help, we are trying our best to help you, but without you willing to do some work unfortunately our help cant go beyond our resources. As I said to you before create a Vagrantfile and push your code somewhere with your specific setup and then we can investigate your issue more. At the rate/harshness of your replies, you would think you are paying us for a service we are not providing you with. Please refrain from such replies as it doesn't help, helping you with your issues.

Sometimes the cache menu doesn't work due to an upgrade in the JavaScript which runs the site ... your computer will have an old version and the server is running a newer one. For all intents and purposes this has been fixed by and large with a versioning apparatus.

A snippet/ plugin can also cause the cache to not clear if it crashes badly enough.

Occasionally setting up ACLs will also require a little nudge by deleting those folders.

It's just a handy tool to have, if you have about scratched the hair from a location of your head trying to figure it out.

As far as OS goes... that is also a viable point, just not very likely if the admin has the slightest clue of what they are doing... Though I have seen domain controllers allow access to a web server on the network but refuse write access to the directories... Basically, you couldn't upload content for the site to exist.

If you chmod the cache folder 000 and chown it to root.root it would not work then either, but that would be pretty sad environment.

NONE OF YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT I HAVE SEEN! Trust me.......

Silent Works: I am not trying to be rude now and I apologize if my last reply came off that way I am just surprised to read that someone is immediately blaming the server. Reason being: I am a Linux Systems Administrator and have been for 15+ years. My day job is managing a medium sized VMware environment that hosts a PHP+MySQL based IP camera hosting application. I also manage the primary web servers for the company I work for which are all PHP+MySQL based. Generally only developers immediately jump to blaming the server and not their code before they realize that their code does in fact have a problem. Finally, I am willing to dig into the configuration however, I need to know what I am looking for. All of the permissions are setup correctly, there are no errors in the error logs, and Apache + PHP passed all checks when I installed MODX so I would imagine that the server is configured properly. If you still think there might be a configuration problem, then what am I looking for? Oh, and out of being curious, why would me pushing my code up to a repository help you? I have not modified any of the MODX code.

Shawn: How can a computer have an "old version" of JavaScript? It's not like you have to have the Java Plugin installed on your machine just so your machine supports JavaScript. They are two entirely different languages. You don't install anything to support JavaScript except the browser. Am I wrong? I've never installed anything to support JavaScript. Can you be more specific please?

Here are a few of the system settings to check in your Systems Settings. Also note that if you didn't not previously set the setting for "automatic_alias" then likely your resources will not have an alias created for the FURL. You can check this by click any resource in the resource tree then in the right column verify that the second field, Resource Alias, is not blank. If it is you should be able to quickly save it after setting the systems settings automatic_alias to true to generate it for you.

Attached are some of the common settings I use when setting up sites.

Then for the caching issue if you try to call the [[++site_name]] non-cached you might be able to better isolate the root cause as caching. To do this simply at the exclamation after the opening bracket
                  [[!++site_name]]
. Also if you can let us know what output is generated from executing the following command may also help us assist you.

                  php -m
Evo Revo // Ubuntu, CentOS, Win // Apache 2x, Lighttp (Lighty)

CharlesMx: Thank you for the screenshots, much appreciated.

All of the issues in this thread have been resolved. In order to get the "Use Friendly Alias Path" I had to go into each resource that was part of a parent resource, add the parents resource alias to the childs resource alias (parent/child) save it, then go back and remove it in order to get it to trigger and create the path on the fly. Either way, it works now!

Thank you all for the assistance, it is much appreciated and again, I apologize for coming off like a hard ass. I am not used to being on forums with people that are nice, professional and willing to help. Most forums people don't give a shit about anyone else and treat others with disrespect and I apologize for initially bringing that here. I was way out of line.

Thank you all again! Next thread? Forms using FormIt!

I cover that and many other topics on my MODX tutorial site CMSTricks check it out and comment on the site or post here on the forums for further help.

Another way to get help probably much faster is if you are on Twitter create a forum post and tag your tweet with the #MODX hash that way all MODX users can see you have an issue and try to help.

I'm glad we managed to help you solve your issue and once again welcome to MODX, good luck.
