Have you established the language for the page: http://www.w3.org/International/tutorials/new-language-decl/qa-html-language-declarations

Do you have language directives in .htaccess or php.ini?

Is your JSON pull being translated via PHP or JavaScript?

Can you get it working WITHOUT TinyMCE?

Have you downloaded the language pack for TinyMCE? http://www.tinymce.com/i18n/index.php

did some tests saving, editing, reading, html-view-editing, switched between different formtabs, all of that several times with your text, but could not reproduce it. The text remains still the same as the initial input.

Thank you, Bruno, for testing. This clearly indicates that there is no inherent problem of using utf-8 encoded special characters within a MIGX/tinyMCE setting.

Its only a wild guess: I suspect there must be something wrong with the read-back of the JSON data from the database, when I start a re-edit. And that could be a problem caused by the way mysql/php is implemented by my provider?

I have not set any language this way. Would it make any difference? Cause its already in the manager back-end where I see the characters being changed. This setting would only affect front-end or am I wrong?

No I havent. htaccess is not used. And php.ini I cannot control, it is controlled by the provider.

Yes, I think so - thats the whole workings of the MIGX addon. But as Bruno replied, his tests cannot replicate the problem. And I am using same versions etc.
Can you get it working WITHOUT TinyMCE?
No, TinyMCE is the only RTE supported by MIGX, as far as I know.

No, I will have a look if that makes any difference.

Hi, I did another test with a (plain html) textarea as input-tv for the text data. This way, I thought, I can rule out tinyMCE as the source of the problem.

Indeed, when I use the textarea, exactly the same happens. The first time after save everything is fine. But after I start a re-edit (just opening the MIGX form again - havent typed anything yet!), the special characters have changed.

I don't know that much about database- and php-settings. Maybe you Bruno (or other people) can reflect. What would you conclude now?
Must it be that there is something not standard about these settings in my case? Is the pull-back of data from the JSON, as soon as I start a re-edit, the culprit?

is it after saving and reopening the resource or just saving and reopening the MIGX-item without saving the resource?

              It happens in both cases!
So after I close the MIGX form and save the input ('done' button), and then open the MIGX again, the characters have already changed.

Interestingly, in the grid table, the text looks normal, after I have entered it in the MIGX. However, as soon as the MIGX form is again opened, then it happens!

                seems to be client-side, then.
Did you try it on different browsers, different OSs, different machines?

Tried it with: Chrome, FF21, Safari 5.1.7, IE 10, yet all on Windows 7 and same machine.
Cleared cache from manager often and also cleared browser caches between tries.

Its really very strange isnt it?

It sill sounds if as that portion of the page is being sent back in another language, which the browser is picking up on, though you can't see it.

                    Try wrapping the area declaration:

I already set language in modx system preferences. When I view the source code while in the backend (manager), it says: <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" lang="nl" xml:lang="nl">
