I using 2.2.6 all of a sudden all plugins have stopped working in both manager e.g. TinyMCE, and front end, e.g. SPForm, breadcrumbs, getResources etc..
I'm not sure what's changed other than ownership of my var/www directory, but the assets/components deirectory and all it's contents were still 755. I changed them to 777 but it makes no difference.

If you uninstalled Articles, you may well have uninstalled those snippets and plugins as well, since Articles will install them itself. Check your Package Manager to see what is installed or not. My personal experience has been that it's all but impossible to cleanly remove Articles; at least I've never been successful at it.
I think the latest version of Articles may be better about that, though I haven't had the nerve to uninstall it. I do remember a previous uninstall where I had to go through the DB searching for quip, archivist, etc.

Perhaps; I haven't used it for a long time so I'm not familiar with its latest behavior.
No my plugins are still installed. TinyMCE, SPForm, Quip (articles uses an old version), Breadcrumbs.
They are all still there just not responding to calls. Plus TinyMCE, SPF, and Breadcrumbs have nothing to do with Articles.
The only snipped that is working is Wayfinder.
Articles has some serious uninstall issues. It really shouldn't attempt to uninstall included packages, as obviously you may still need them

All I can suggest is what I've done; uninstall, remove completely, then re-download and install the ones you want.
