The alias in articles works differently from the rest of Revolution.

Firstly Articles disregards the setting of use_alias_path - if I set this to NO I'd expect a blog article not to include the articles Container alias in its path

Secondly the full path of Article Container Alias + Article Alias gets stored in the Article. This means if you later change your Article Container Alias you're still left with the original alias for existing articles. This is the equivalent of Child Resources storing the path of all its Parents.

Why can't articles work out their alias dynamically like regular resources.

I've found various hacks to the code to try and overcome these issues but I don't really want to go down that path, if you'll excuse the pun.

Basically all I'm trying to achieve is

    1. NO alias path for resources
    2. NO alias path for the blog/articles
    3. Have containers end in .html
    4. Achieve the above without hacking the source and retaining Tags / Archives functions

I too have endured this, and many more from the wonderful Articles addon.
In fact I am sick and tired of tinkering with the core code... I do hope something is done to make its resources resemble native ones; for now I am stuck with path issue in Articles, while the rest of my sites don't use path.

I don't think the change or improvement would detract from the overall performance of the Articles addon.

Harden your MODX site by passwording your three main folders: core, manager, connectors and renaming your assets (thank me later!)

I stopped using Articles long ago. I use MIGXdb TVs instead. They don't have all the built-in stuff, but I have no problems adding Quip and using getPage and getResources myself.

          That's a bit depressing.

If everyone gives up on Articles it'll just wither on the vine.

Not sure about MIGX. It works great for me on feeding slider banners and the like but a bit worried about a blog. If I try it and like it I might even be tempted to forget Resources completely and build the whole site out of MIGX smiley

Articles already is withering on the fine, has been for a while now. As far as I know I'm one of the only developer actively contributing to it and even my enthusiasm level is at a low. I'm hoping that something comes along to replace it soon

Alternatively I need to find a way to resurrect your enthusiasm level.

I could send you either a MODX T-Shirt, box of chocolates or Dolly Parton CD for each Articles update?

Might want to send them to whoever is in charge of reviewing pull requests for Articles. For example, it's hard to stay enthused when hefty pull requests like this one sit for over a month:

Anyone at MODX care to comment. Lot's of recent discussion about community involvement. Seems like we have a willing contributor if only he'd be allowed in ...

Oh I'm definitely "in". And have direct communication with those at MODX who handle this. It's just right now there aren't much if any resources dedicated to reviewing Extras like Articles, which given the community interest in Articles I find unfortunate.

I second all the above - I love articles - but I have a hard time at the minute convincing my clients to stick with my modx solution when their wordpress friends say blogging just works. My issue at https://forums.modx.com/thread/83872/incorrect-url-sent-to-twitter-from-articles#dis-post-463561 has only one reply so far - and that's me :-(
