Anyone know if there are any known issues with having multiple and independent installs of MODx on a single domain, just on different subdomains? I know it sounds vague, but for whatever reason, I keep having many, yet different, problems that don't have any obvious cause. All of them just prevent a successful install, although the symptoms vary. The only one that works okay is the original install on the root level of the site. I do believe all my settings and configs are correct. BTW: the reason I'm doing this is all part of my attempts to do this:

    Thanks in advance.

I don't think I can help you with your problem, but multiple modx installs on one domain should not cause problems.
I have several of those set up on more than one server.

One thing that comes to mind is creating the subdomain folder outside of the main folder (the opposite of multiple subdomain contexts), which is usually the default when you create subdomains on plesk or cpanel.

Sorry I can't offer you more...
      • You can use Vapor to make a package out of an installation, and install it like any other package into a new installation.

Thanks, nir-z. Yeah, that's what we had in mind to do. I assumed it is possible to have multiple installs, since subdomains, for the most part, act as independent 'partitions', isolating the contents from each other. It's just that I'm having so many install problems within each subdomain that it was easy to blame MODx.

Thanks, Susan. I assume that if you want to us Vapor, that you need to use MODx Cloud? Am I correct? If so, that may not be an option here since the boss does not want to use MODx Cloud at this time.

            • No. The Vapor scripts work just as well for any installation of Revo. Upload the scripts and run them on the original, according to the instructions. This will put a package.zip file in the core/packages, with the name of the site.

Install a new Revo wherever you want it, and put the package.zip in its core/packages directory. Install it with Package Manager like any other local package.
