    Hi there,

    Ive been using ModX for a long time. I had almost completely finished a site, and was just adding in some RSS links in the head of my template.. I saved the template and it came back to a weird screen with the template displayed but unstyled. I then got an erro "Access Denied" (I think). The manager now is gone white.....in fact everything is gone white!!!!!

    When I go to the front end: I get this:http://cherrysite.u119.hosting.davidbutt.com/ - white no content!
    Same for the manager!

    I checked the files are all in the directory - OK
    I’ve also checked the database - OK
    I’ve checked the server - Appears to be fine with indexes correct to serve php pages????

    Anyone see this before?
    Thanks in advance.

    Justin huh

    Update:

    Not a server issue. Php pages are being served: http://cherrysite.u119.hosting.davidbutt.com/problem.php
    So when the server serves index.php......the whole thing just comes back as white. Is there a setting in the DB that can lock the entire site down in this way?

    Also: When I echo something from index.php, it is coming out fine, with no warnings or error messages?

      It’s along shot but...

      The firefox html validator extension is reporting that your XML prolog isn’t closed. More specifically, the first line of your document looks like this:

      <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"

      When it should look like this:

      <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

      You might want to check that first.

      Cheers

        Take a good look at the template you use for your documents. Try switching to one of the standard modx-templates to see if they work OK.

          Thats odd. This is not an xml page, its just a normal html page. I dont know where that is being pulled in from. My template should start with:

          <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"
          "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
          <html>
          <head>

          etc....

          I dont know how to fix the xml tag as I have no idea where its coming in from?

          Also: I have no access to the manager. I can pmake the change in the DB I assume?

          Update: I changed the "template" field for my homepage to one of the modx template id’s, still the same. White screen when trying to view index.php.

          If it helps in any way: I was pasting the folowing line into the template when the whole thing exploded:

          <link title="RSS 2.0" href="[(base_url)]newsfeed.htm" type="application/rss+xml" rel="alternate" />

            Are you able to set PHP error reporting to ’on’ in either the php.ini on your server or using an .htaccess file? This looks like a page that is having a PHP error but reporting is turned off.

              Hi there,

              I tried adding:

              php_flag display_errors on
              php_value error_reporting 7

              To my .htaccess file, still no luck. Same white screen?

                Do you have access to your server’s error logs? Do you know if anything has been modified on the server, e.g. upgrade to PHP5. When I was using ModX 9.5, my server got upgraded to PHP 5 without me being told and it was in fact a problem with the locale timestamp on the server not being set... It produced the same results - white background. It’s because it messes with the PHP function date()....

                    Perhaps you could remove this in the template directly in de db, it’s in {db prefix}_site_templates.

                      Hi there,

                      Wiseguy : no I have no access to logs and to the best of my knowledge php was not updated on the server as its a shared hosting platform.

                      modxxx: Way ahead of you!!! I removed it straight away hoping and praying the problem would go away!!!

                      Update: Look what happens when I try to access the manager! Appears files are missing. Have I been hacked or something!

                      http://cherrysite.u119.hosting.davidbutt.com/manager/ - AAHHHHHHHHHHHGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                      undecided

                      One other thing, I deleted some of the ModX templates yesterday, but everything appeared to be fine and I logged in fine this morning. Is was when I made my first template edit that the whole thing went down? Can I try a fresh install or something and replace the DB?
