Resource Tree Collapsing

Hello, I'm building a site that has about 240 resources and counting. My resources browser has stopped remembering what type of document I've been working on and just defaults to the Web tree with all folders collapsed whenever I save, or load a document. I was remembering but at some point stopped. I am not using compressed css or javascript libraries.

I've scanned the forums for this issue but I'm not seeing anything. I've cleared my browser's cache, the site cache and logged in and out several time to no effect.

Has anyone else experienced this?

MODX Revolution 2.2.5-pl (traditional)

I've always noticed that the trees are somewhat inclined to do that anyway at random intervals no matter how many or few items in them. Unfortunately I have no idea why, or what you might do about it. I do know that cookies are involved. I've long suspected that it might be some kind of timeout mechanism, and have wondered if a separate AJAX request is made for every open branch.

Here's the strangest part of all. I had a major crash of the Modx install. Thankfully I had the DB backed up. I did a clean 2.2.6 install with no DB tables and checked the resource tree just out of curiosity and it did the same thing - always defaulting to "Web" collapsed. I've got various versions of REVO installed on different servers and I do not notice this behavior.

ltdstylo, after you make a change to what is open or closed it waits one second to make sure you're not opening or closing anything else, before sending out an ajax request to store your position. Maybe you are going too fast?

Perinet, you should probably have started a new thread instead of posting here. On the surface it may be that the user in your usergroup does not have a role of "Super User" or the sessions have not been cleared.

Thank you for your answer - yes he has a role of "Super User" and I did "Flush Permissions" and "Flush All Sessions" but it doesn't help.

I'm wondering if posting a screen recording would be helpful. Let's say I want to access a resource nested two or three level deep in the tree - I'll toggle the folders open, find the file, click on the file. The page reloads and the folders I had toggled open are now closed. No matter what kind of resource (document, snippet, chunk, ...) the tree always reverts to the same view, "web" with all folders closed.

Can this be a sever-based issue? This install is on a shared server. I was having trouble with broken thumbnails which was eventually solved by the hosting admins disabling eaccellerator. Could that be the cause? [ed. note: ltdstylo last edited this post 13 years, 8 months ago.]

You might try changing the clear_cache_refresh_trees System Setting. I don't think that's your problem, but it might help.

Turning off the compress_js and compress_css System Settings would be something else to try.

I just tried that and no luck.

I just put two installs side by side. The problem install (2.25) with one I know works properly (2.2.0). The one that behaves properly logs these four POSTS that the problem install does not:

/connectors/element/index.php?action=getNodes&id=n_type_snippet&type=snippet

/connectors/element/index.php?action=getNodes&id=n_type_template&type=template

/connectors/element/index.php?action=getNodes&id=n_snippet_category_1&type=snippet

/connectors/element/index.php?action=getNodes&id=n_snippet_category_14&type=snippet

While these load the resource tree expands.

The problem install only POSTS this:

/connectors/resource/index.php?action=getNodes&id=web_0&type=modContext

At which point it loads the "Web" view with all windows collapsed.

Can that be a system setting?

Not one that I know of. Is it a new install? You may have a corrupted or missing file in the install, especially if you transferred the files individually with FTP. It happens more often than you might think.

I did a reinstall last night because of another issue. But it was working when I first installed, then stopped. I always upload via FTP. Maybe I'll try reloading the install. Thanks again.
