Plain English won't be affected either way; it's only once you start with "foreign" characters that it makes a difference. The basic ASCII characters are still in the first block of almost any character set.

So it's not getting saved at all, and has nothing to do with caching. What, exactly, does and does not get saved? Does anything get saved with the rich text editor disabled? How about pagetitle, introtext, and other fields? Chunks?

      Thanks for persisting with this.

The latest is I've modified this page:

      http://ac.demo.me.uk/media-centre/press-releases/baby-boomers-are-draining-nhs-resources-through-alcohol-misuse

But the changes aren't appearing when I preview.

I can see them when I edit the resource content and also other changes I've made to pagetitle, etc so I assume they are being saved somewhere. I've also tried disabling the Rich Text editor but it makes no difference.

Do I have to do something then to publish them?

So let me make sure that I understand. It's only the "content" field that won't save? Will it save anything at all, or does it just refuse to save certain text?

I've just worked out what the issue is. A content history plugin has been added so revisions need to be approved!

A big thanks for everyone's help and apologies for wasting your time. I inherited the site so I've had to do some learning.
