I've used MODx several times. My very first MODx was Evolution. Then I gladly met MODx Revolution.
And all was fine, MODx seemed to me very powerfull and promising.
But now I faced real problems I can't resovle by myself. You can see my three questions in General Discussion thread.
And they showed me another big MODx problem - it's MODx community.
The community seems to be dead. Or maybe I'm wrong? Or maybe it me the problem?
What do you think about that?

    With best regards, G.

I've been using MODX for a little over a week now and I've found the community to be very helpful and responsive.

When I look at your posts it doesn't seem to be that bad. You have issues with TinyMCE (which seem not to be very common, even when TinyMCE is also not my favorite extra...) that are unanswered but more or less the rest of the posts has replies.

I personally have made very good experiences with the modx community, so I definitely would not consider it dead =)...but maybe that's because I'm lacking long term experience with other open source communities, so in comparison to which community the modx com. looks dead?

Hope I'm wrong! But I've found only one alternative for TinyMCE and as I can remeber TinyMCE lives in MODx since Evolution. So it is possible to say that TinyMCE package is major richtext editor for MODx backend now, isn't it? Thus, I've expected at least few suggestions about my issue. Maybe Stackoverflow make a big deal forming my opinion about community.
As a developer I can say I love MODx for sure.

          P.S. Sorry my ugly English

=), then you were luckier than I was...didn't find an alternative (though I would love elRTE, but it just does not work^^) for TinyMCE (which I personally really don't like)...which one do you use? SO is great, but not really project specific right?

I had a look at your errors with TinyMCE, but really could not remember a scenario where I had them (also uninstalled the package several times)...sorry^^

This community experiences the same lulls and boosts as any. Those who read the posts, may not know the answer. Those who may know, might find themselves 36 hours post forum check, and then are looking at a page or two of new posts.

You can always bump your unanswered questions. That usually gets a notice, if only by someone who doesn't know the answer.

I watched your posts go by, and marked them as unread so I wouldn't loose them (I have no answer for you, sorry) simply because I'm curious. They still ended up 3 pages deep in unread posts.

I was going to use elRite. But, I couldn't test elRite yet, because even after TinyMCE unintalled MODx try to use it when edit Resource. Thus I'm not luckier than you smiley

I resolved my issue with TinyMCE uninstallation, then installed elRite one more time. First, it seemed elRite surely does not work, but I checked system configuration and which_editor was set to TinyMCE. I changed this option to elRite and now elRite works. Now I need to test elRite behavior with links and images!

I think the community is good, like on the modxpo and the FridayNight Social Special... it was really great.

I really would like to see something like that more often, and so close to my home as possibile ,) So I would really enjoy some local events in Colonge, Bonn or something like that in Germany. On the last Event in Colonge that I know were two People, sadly i saw it to late on Xing and could not be the 3rd.

Also Forums there is a lot of activity here, maybe not like bigger CMS Systems but here are also lots of the Developers which is really great.
