getChunk and included snippets

I have a standalone php application, which uses MODX functionality through the API. Therefore, I include the MODX class and initialize the manager.

define('MODX_PATH','/path/to/modx/');
define('MODX_API_MODE', FALSE);
require_once MODX_PATH.'config.core.php';
require_once MODX_CORE_PATH.'model/modx/modx.class.php';

$modx = new modX();
$modx->initialize('mgr');

I can now run

$modx->getChunk('chunkname');

And all references like [[~12]] will be resolved fine. However, Snippets which I include will not be run, but will just be treated as plain text and are readable on the site. Is there any way to make MODX run these snippets?

did you try to call your snippets with cached tags:

[[yourSnippet]]

Exactly how are you including the snippets?

I just do a simple snippet call like this:

[[snippet]]

However, I found this thread which says it is not doable:

Does it make a difference if you initialize "web" (or w/e your frontend context is) instead of mgr?

What version of MODx Revo are you running?

I just tested this on 2.2.5-pl, using:

echo $modx->getChunk('myChunk');

Output seems correct:

2012-11-14

Chunk: myChunk

[[mySnippet]]

Snippet: mySnippet

<?php
return date('Y-m-d');

Changing context to 'web' vs. 'mgr' did not make a difference, however calling the snippet uncached simply returned the snippet call:

[[!mySnippet]]

Hey guys,

sorry for the late reply. We struggled a bit within the last days to find a way. It does not make a difference which context is initialized. We now use the solution with getParser() that is recommended by Lucas in the other thread I posted earlier.
