I've installed articles 1.4.7 on revo 2.2.0 to create a very basic blog system. However, any comments left on the page aren't sent thru to the manager and don't appear at all. Neither do they show on the front of the site. After leaving a comment on the front of the site, hitting the preview button just loads the page again and clears any content as well. Would anyone know from their own experiences what could be causing this?

I also notice that the url's multiply endlessly each time a given 'tag' is clicked. So for example- mysite.com/blog/article-here.html becomes mysite.com/blog/article-here.html/mysite.com/blog/article-here.html. The url will multiply as many times as you click the link and also happens for links in the archive too.

Not sure if this has anything to do with comments not displaying but i'm sure in any case this shouldn't be happening either.

Hey there, jaykaye! Welcome to what I had to do in order to "fix" the entirety of Articles for my site. There's some good news and some bad news. The good news is you're getting pretty familiar with how Articles (and the supplied plugins) work together.

To get them to show, they must look at the correct thread (which is not being submitted correctly. Instead of using
        [[+comments]]

        and
        [[+comments_form]]

, I went to a straight Quip call.

This is what my calls look like instead:
        Comments Replacement
        [[!Quip? &thread=`article-b[[*parent]]-[[*id]]`]]

        Comments_Form Replacement
        [[!QuipReply? &thread=`article-b[[*parent]]-[[*id]]` &requireAuth=`1`]]

The bad news is you may have to revisit fixing the Chunks, like you did for Articles. Luckily, it's not too bad. There is a lot of adjustment, though. Comments are managed by Quip. Chunks for Quip (for Articles) are also located in the File System (Media Source). The path is "core/components/quip/elements". You'll have to copy each of the following to make your adjustments:

quipAddComment - add a / to the beginning of the form's action attribute
quipComment - add a / to beginning of all hrefs
quipCommentOptions - add a / to the beginning of the href
quipReport - add a / to the beginning of the href

Ok, thanks for the reply, i've been working thru what you list here and trying to get my head around it. I've followed your first point and changed those first two calls in the Article template, still no change so i'm guessing i need to also revisit the chunks as you suggest.. will report back shortly on the outcome

When i did amend the chunk for Articles last time, i did so by navigating to it from the elements tab inside the manager. I take it maybe this was the wrong way of going about it!? I didn't make a copy of it and then edit the copy. So now in this instance of editing the quip chunks, what you're saying is to copy them first and then edit, and access via the root of the site..

The problem with editing the ones provided to you is that they will be overwritten if any of the Add-ons are updated. This means you will have to do it ALL over again if you update. That's why you open the file in the Media Source, copy the content, create a new Chunk of the same name, and paste the content. Then make your adjustments.

P.S. You must capitalize them the way I did in my previous post. Otherwise, it will fail.

Note: This will not fix previous Comment Posts as those were broken. This will only allow new posts to be added and replied to.

Ok, i understand that. But if the duplicates are of the same name, how does the system know which one of the two to use?

You can still use the Manager, just use the Media Source tab to get the Content instead of the Elements tab. Media Source accesses the file system. The path I gave you is from the Media Source. Use the Elements tab to create the copy.

Gotcha. The Chunks for Quip should not be in the Elements. They should be in the File System (that's where they were in mine). If you have an Element of the same name as a File in the File System, MODx defers to the Element. If they ARE in Elements, you may adjust those instead with no issue (unless they changed the configuration within the past two weeks). Sorry, no, i am now accessing the quip chunks from the media source, locating them by using the paths you listed- "core/components/quip/elements"

But i don't quite understand if i now take files in there (such as quipAddComment for example), duplicate it in the same location, give it the same name.. once i edit that, then surely there's two files in the same location with same name. Sorry again if i'm being super slow here to catch on.
