Anyone know what is happening with this ?

    Is Elegant-Mind going to Evo's successor ?

What does the MODx team think about this ?

Elegant Mind is the name of the template used for the SimpleMachines forum package for the fork of Evo. I know; I installed the SMF package and installed the Elegant Mind theme on it before I decided not to work with the fork after all.

The project itself is a fork; it is in no longer in any way connected to the MODx community. Since MODx is licensed GPL, anybody is free to fork it if they wish. In fact, MODx itself was forked from Etomite several years ago.

Elegant Mind is the name of one project which may continue to be a fork or may become a rewrite. I was also involved before deciding not to work with that fork after all.

There is at least one other project which will definitely be a fork (i.e. not another rewrite). See https://forums.modx.com/thread/77900/clippercms---announcement

It's a fork and absolutely their prerogative to do so. We wish they would have worked with MODX to help improve it directly, but again, that's also their prerogative to choose otherwise. They're certainly going about the fork right and not promoting things here—we wish them the best of luck and bear no ill will. Any other discussions about it belong on their forums or Github project.

            Hello,

I've read all of the 50 pages in this thread : https://forums.modx.com/thread/?thread=74766 because I wonder wether to keep using Evo or Revo.
At the end of the thread, TimGS points to https://forums.modx.com/thread/77900/clippercms---announcement
I'm giving it a try ... but now, I see Elegant Mind, which is managed by Stefanie on Github and Stefanie was the first person to talk about "giving a second life to Evo".

            So now, I'm confused...

Are Elegant Mind and ClipperCMS 2 different forks ? Who is working on both ? What direction both will take ?

Thank you for your answer smiley

The right move would be to move to MODX Revo which is being supported and continuously developed by the MODX core team, no point in wasting your time working with Evo the longer you wait to switch the more you will have to learn.

              Just my 2 cents.

I might be worth mentioning that a future version of MODX (MODX3) is planned that will be the successor to both Evo and Revo. My guess is that the transition will be somewhat smoother for people using Revo, since the underlying architecture will be much closer to Revolution's.

                ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PLEASE, PLEASE specify the version of MODX you are using.

"Elegant Mind" and Clipper are two different forks, with two totally different communities, and different directions as well. Elegant Mind is a more radical shift from Evo, while Clipper is being more conservative.

"Elegant Mind" ? That is definitely not the right name for an evo fork. Elegant Mind sounds way too much associated with somebody's emotional/romantic involvement. Anyone knows something about the development or release date for modx-3 ? It is said that modx-3 will bring together the best of evo and revo. That really would be it ! As this could make an end of all the evo forking and we can all meet again on a new superior platform made by modx, which brought us together in the first place.

Elegant Mind was simply the name of the theme I installed on the fork's site for the SMF forum. http://custom.simplemachines.org/themes/index.php?lemma=2580

We didn't have a name yet, so I didn't change the logo that came with the theme. Somehow that got taken as the name for the project.
