Can't select different template

I have installed MODX Revolution 2.2.0-pl2 (traditional) with PHP Version 5.2.17 and mySQL 5.1.61. Everything went smoothly, however, I cannot create a new template and then save a document using that template. Any suggestions?

Usually this happens when the date.timezone setting in PHP doesn't match with the one of mySQL.

Until you get the date/timezone thing worked out, you can right-click on the resource in the tree and select "Quick Update". You can change the template successfully that way.
