  Good luck with Joomla!, where you have to pay to get the real good extensions.

  
  I have found all the extensions that I need for joomla for free and at least most are continuing to be updated. Which brings up the point that a good part of the value of a CMS is in the Addons that are available and supported. And if Addon developers lose interest and abandon their projects well you get something like Xoops and now like Evo.
  
  

  BTW, did you read this 40 pages thread before saying that Evolution is abandoned?

  No I did not read all 40 pages. Seemed like a bunch of talking and no action. Maybe Evo does need a new fork out of this craziness.

  MODx does belong to MODx LLC, and whatever they want to do with it is their privilege, open source or not.

  Yeah whatever too. My "Opinion" is that Evo was sabotaged and it was not a good decision to make an INCOMPATIBLE Revo version. Smart geeks maybe, but not good marketing business sense in my Opinion.
  (actually I would use more colorful language to express my opinions but I'm trying to be politically correct and polite. lol)

  Just a quick note to mention that versioning is available in Revolution with VersionX. You're also free to use static objects where the content is in a file and can be managed with any version control system.
  
  Also, though I've never done a multi-language site, some people seem to be having success using Revolution Contexts for that.
