We decided to publish further information in the project wiki at Home.

If you like to file issues, we enabled them at Issues 0.

This will help a little bit more, than this endless thread. Please file also issues, if you think you are missing something, that should be available through the core. This will help you and us, not to loose the clear view.

At this moment, this is all, we can do, to keep you informed about what is going on.

Two more sentences are to say, all members of the development team decided against a gatekeeper solution as mentioned on the MODX blog at Bringing Evolution Development Back to Life. We thought, that we've waited long enough, to get an answer by the MODX core team.

We've updated our default branch 1.1.dev with the changes committed by the Japanese community and some Russian translations committed by dmi3yy.

The download for tests is available at https://github.com/sjstoelting/evolution/downloads.

By the way, no one of the core development team has contacted any of us who are working on these improvements, to tell us how they would take our improvements back to the Evolution core. The gatekeeper solution is out of question for us.

hi all,

i can't say how thankful i am to see you guys doing this great job with evo and how sorry i am not to be able to contribute so far not having time for any non-job project those days/months.

@Stefanie, you know, i'm not that surprised by the team attitude towards your job. you know, i've been asking for evo news here and there for a while, even in the announcement forum and all i got was to see the thread closed without any answer
despite what they say in the blog post the team seems to have become a little scornful towards their own jewel that is evo

now the question, as you obviously are not going to take the gatekeeper solution (and you're totally right, else your evo release would probably take a year or two...) are you forecasting to create a real fork with its own name/website or do you still hope your evo release/branch to be accepted as an evo... evolution by the team ?
i know it's quite hard a question... but don't you think it will raise by itself soon ?

once again thank you so much for... bringing evo back to life

and i hope i'll be able to help as soon as i've finished the 15 websites i've to make with... evo (it's not a joke...)

We never asked for a gatekeeper; quite the contrary in fact. We requested a person from the community be nominated to lead as an integrator and point person. That's a very, very different thing in my mind. And we never heard anything back, but that's OK.

The integrator role is what has worked for ~8 years, and has maintained one of the best security track records compared to other OS PHP projects. It's one of the things that's very important to anything with MODX on the label. It's also a heck of a lot of work, so I understand the hesitation for anyone to step up and take on the role. We have to pay folks to do this stuff, or it tends to not happen as it should.

I will note though that there seems to be an undercurrent of "us vs them" in this thread. Or am I just reading too much into it?

I also love Revo.....However, please do not throw away Evo, either.

MODX is wonderful. A site to make can be made.
Even those who are not interested in a system, it can be satisfied if MODX.
