    Hi,

    This page:
    http://modx.com/why-modx/applications/modx-blogging-the-wordpress-and-blogger-alternative/

says "Auto Promote—Automatically Tweet and post to Facebook new articles when you publish them in MODX."

I have found all of the settings to AutoPublish to Twitter. Are there any instructions to Auto Publish to Facebook?

There is nothing direct from the Articles from what I can see, however, you can post from twitter, in the profile setting tab to your facebook or a specific page.

      Cheers!

Thanks Shopcoop... unfortunately the client wants to post with an image, so going from Twitter won't work.

          Hi rachelmarama1,

I also read the artilce from MODX ( http://modx.com/why-modx/applications/modx-blogging-the-wordpress-and-blogger-alternative/ ) and was wondering if you had found a way to post Modx resources straight to Facebook?

My Client would simply like to create a new News Article and when published in MODX would also publish to Facebook. The concept seems simple yet I'm not experienced enough to know where to start.

          I appreciate your help.

          Thanks.

Hi, I have not found a way to post resources straight from Facebook, sorry. I'm also not experienced enough to program something like this myself.

              Hi rachelmararma1,

Thanks for the reply. I could not find a way to publish MODX resources on my clients site and at the same time post them to Facebook so I simply added the "LIKE" and "SHARE" Facebook buttons to the News Template in MODX which works great but is not ideal.

              http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like/

Instead of posting the News Item to Facebook the "LIKE" and "SHARE" simply post a link back to my clients website. This seems to be good enough for the time being.

Thanks again for taking the time to reply.

                Hello,

The post to Facebook functionality hasn't been added at this point in time. There is an open issue on the subject: http://tracker.modx.com/issues/7471

I would suggest adding your two cents, which will hopefully move it up on the to do list... (after MODX Cloud)

You can add that kind of automatic posting by using the rss-output of the articles-plugin in combination with the free webservice http://dlvr.it/ who posts your new articles automaticly on facebook, twitter and many more services. On top you get free statistics about the postet links on the social networks.

I use it - and I love it! smiley

@vamporio: Would you like to share how to connect articles with dlvr?

                    Thanks a lot for considering,

                    Thomas

                      @Thomas108:
With the Articles-Extra you have the possibility to create a rss-feed from your blog. (http://rtfm.modx.com/display/ADDON/Articles.Creating+a+Blog)

After you have done that, open the rss-feed-link and take a look if everything works fine.
If the rss works correctly, you have to register a dlvr.it-account.

There you can add the link of your rss-feed as Source (left side) and on the right side, you can add the destinations (for example facebook, twitter and many more).

And thats it. If your rss-feed is connected to facebook for example, dlvr.it checks your rss-feed from time to time and if there is a new blogpost it automaticly posts the news as a status on facebook. That is really nice and saves you a lot of extra-time and work.

You also can do other route-variations like Facebook -> Twitter (what I have done a few weeks ago for a client). Everytime you post a status on Facebook, dlvr.it automaticly posts a tweet from that in Twitter. It's really nice.

But remember to do not loops... For example,
FB -> Twitter and Twitter -> FB because then, you get crossposts all the time ;-)

Another great service with a little bit more complexity as dlvr.it is https://ifttt.com/ (IFTTT = "If This Than That") what does almost the same as dlvr.it, but you can add more route-options.

On that page here https://ifttt.com/wtf you can find some examples for "recipes" (or routes) you can define.

For example, if you take a photo with instagramm, you can automaticly upload it to dropbox via ifttt.

So long, I hope it helps ;-)
                      Greetings
                      Jens
