Hi everyone, I'm trying out the new modx 2.2 pl2 and i'm having an issue with the admin user.
I'll qualify first that we're hosted on rackspace cloudsites which is a cluster setup if that means anything.
Sometimes while working in the manager we'll get an access denied on various parts of the manager. Again we're logged in as admin with all rights. I figure it's a session issue or something so I naturally logout, when I do I get a screen similar to the attached file. This issue has happened many times already including just now else I wouldnt' post it.

    Thanks in advance!

      1) make sure you're logged out of the manager anytime you do an upgrade
      2) try to flush permissions
      3) clear site cache
      4) re-run the setup from the upgraded version after you log-out of the manager

      cheers

This is happening to a few of us and flushing permissions, clearing caches and even re-running the setup does not necessarily fix it.

My only work around so far was to clear the entire browser cache and log back in.

I'm getting the same issue. It's been working okay for a week or two. Today I installed Google Analytics Dashboard (that the only thing I've changed). No when I logout I get a long unstyled <li> list of the MODx menus and the manager still looks logged in. Clearing Cache, Browser Cache sometimes works, flushing permissions does nothing to help and when I do log in I'm often shown "Access Denied" on the resource list tree, clicking on Dashboard and other areas of the Manager.
've uninstalled Google Analytics Dashboard but I still have the issues so I can't confirm it's definitely Google Analytics Dashboard.

after installing MODx 2.2 I am able to login without problems as main admin.
Yet, if I logout - Manager breaks.
After next login I have symptoms like all others - 'access denied' on different elements (no resource panel on the left, blank pages (ie - the content part of pages is empty, menu stays)), inactive menu items etc.

There is definitely a bug with access permissions

Installed several times and the pattern is the same - first login is OK, next login - i have no master admin priviledges

              update:
latest 2.2 nightly seems to be working and problem does not appear anymore (different ones do thou, but that's nightly) [ed. note: rygar last edited this post 14 years, 6 months ago.]

Well I'll be ... my problems look a lot like the original post, coincidentally "in the Cloud" as well. My MODx 2.2.1 site was just moved to a virtual server site (OnApp Cloud using Xen hypervisor). Since the move I'm having problems in the Manager. If I'm in IE I can access/modify resources and access menu items to a point, but will eventually lose my "permissions" and not be able to access anything. I have to clear my browser cache at which point I can get my "permissions" back, usually having to go back to the manager URL (though not having to log in again).

The behavior is different depending on whether I'm in IE, Safari, or FireFox. But in all cases the browser cache is involved, or shall I say interfering.

I did try as suggested above - clear cache in manager, flush all sessions and log out all users, and run setup in upgrade mode. But as always the Setup directory does not get deleted even though I check the box (and this shows in the error log), and the issues are still there. BTW, I can't view my error log in Manager. Maybe it's too large and I don't know how to truncate it.

Still fighting this after hours and in 3 different browsers, all with different behaviors, and not even a lot of consistency within one browser. Is it safe to say MODx Revolution security will not work in the Cloud, or on a virtual server, or whatever the terminology should be?

This sounds like an issue with session handling in your environment. You'll have to provide details of your "cloud" environment in order for anyone to assist.

All I know is what the hosting company told me when I asked if the site was on a virtual server: "it's on onapp using xen"

I'll pass your comment on to him.
