Auto Update to twitter / facebook

I'd totally write a plugin like this if I were hired to do so (ooo... solicitation... bad bad).

I agree that things like this would make it much easier to convince clients to use MODX. The way WordPress does some of this stuff is absolutely retarded. I'm almost done with my MODX vs. WordPress book (due out later this year), and I confess that the more I see of the WordPress architecture, the more shocked I am at how widespread its use is. It's a shame to see clients loose out on all the great features of MODX (off the top of my head: total URL flexibility, security, built-in caching, logging, and a mature and robust architecture) and instead they go with WordPress because of some trivial feature like this. I know it's just how the world works... the pretty girl with large breasts will always have a date, but she may not always have a clue. It's frustrating in this case where MODX is such a superior alternative to WordPress. The rub is that MODX can do everything that WP does and more, it just needs to grow its repository of add-ons a bit. [ed. note: Everettg_99 last edited this post 14 years, 7 months ago.]

I'm planning on adding Twitter (and maybe other social media) capability to EmailResource. Essentially, you'd just fill in a TV or two, mark a checkbox, and preview the Resource to do the send.

The new version of EmailResource, BTW, will have tags capability so you can not only send an email version of a resource to all members of a user group, but also specify tags so that only users who've expressed a particular interest get the email. The "interests" are stored in the 'comment' field of the User Profile.

I'm also working on a new extra called SubscribeMe that lets the users select their interests and stores them when they register.

I have it working, so the only thing that's hanging me up is what to do about users who already have a registration system in place. I'm open to advice on that.

Shaun has of course implemented something very similar to what we are looking for. It is blog centric, but in the advanced settings tab you can add twitter info and rss for an autopost. I think i can use it as if to achieve what i am looking for. Maybe something in it can help in the development of something more broad reaching. For those who dont know, if you can get and Rss and Twitter autopost you can then have it autopost through twitter to facebook and RSS will feed to Tumblr, etc. Though I might be a bit dated on the Twitter to facebook and have yet to tackle that recently, insight anyone.

Thought id share, it is fairly recent so could be missed. For anyone looking for a blog to autopost... Articles can be downloaded and installed through your package management.

I'm not sure what you mean by "a Request to update profile," but the Login package comes with Profile and UpdateProfile snippets.
