    Hi All,
Is there any way with the modx revo base install or added extra to automatically publish a twitter post and/or facebook post when a resource gets updated?

    regards

That would be a useful plugin... you'd have to configure the Facebook and Twitter accounts... would you post an excerpt? Or a link? It should be easy to write a plugin that did that via the various "OnSave" events.

You could use: http://muddydogpaws.com/notebook/auto-post-to-twitter-when-publishing-in-modx.html as a starting point, but it would need to be converted to work with Revo.

I think this is on the list for Articles, so that might be another avenue to watch.

i have a cool idea, someone could make a simple modx snippet that runs when a resource is updated or created

the snippet would just generate an xml file (i guess of the latest update), & have an option of which php file/code to run

the various php files/codes can post to twitter/fb/email/anything, all they have to do is load in the xml data & do their thing

this way you're not limited at all to premade modx code other than the initial snippet that generates the xml

It would have to be a plugin rather than a snippet and it should probably either post only on publication, or (maybe better) give the user a popup with the option of posting whenever a resource is saved. Since you have to save to preview, it's common to save a resource repeatedly over a short time and you probably wouldn't want to post in every case.

It should be relatively easy to do, although I'm not sure how best to implement the popup.

A plugin tied to OnDocPublished should be pretty simple, though.

I am not a developer, just a mere mortal of the front end world... But isn't it possible to just implement a small checkbox (post to facebook) in the edit resource page via a plug in?

We use wordpress for non intensive sites at my agency here in London and have started to use Modx occasionally for smaller sites, but small plugins such as this would help loads in convincing my bosses to use Modx instead of WP.

*edit* Have attached how wp implement it.

I am also interested in the development of a plugin that does this. I am not a developer, just a novice that is very excited about the flexibility of modx. If wordpress can do it im sure modx can. It would be nice to have a plugin that is very flexible and can coordinate posts across most social media. I will be watching this thread with great interest.
