    1. Flexibility - you can have many templates and lots of configurations with basically no limitations
    2. Easy integration - I probably have a hundreds of my old scripts integrated
    3. TVs (template variables) - adds to incredible flexibility and fairly easy for users to understand
    4. Extendable - creating a snippet/plugin is easy if you know a little PHP.
    5. Separation of HTML and PHP - this is great in how it is done and I think improves the flexibility of MODX vs other CMS I have used.

There are more reasons too like a good group of core developers and a helpful forum community.

1: Total flexibility. I can do things my way quickly and easily, and keep everything as clean and efficient as I want it to be.
2: SEO. MODX makes it trivial to keep your SEO tight.
3: Power. I've yet to encounter anything that can't be done in MODX.
4: Modular and reusable organization of code. Write it once, deploy it everywhere in a very organized fashion. Even chunks can take parameters so that you can use the same code in different contexts. That rocks.
5: Awesome community. I have to chime in with everyone else who finds this an invaluable feature. [ed. note: esnyder last edited this post 14 years, 10 months ago.]

1.: Edit-in-place (front-end editing, in-line-editing, whatever you call it) - even though I'm still struggling with the transition to Revo (used Quickedit under Evo when I chose Modx)
          2.: Templating
          3.: Open source
          4.: Edit-in-place !

If Wordpress asked for your top 5 list it would force you to give 5 answers but MODX has the flexibility to allow just 4 answers

              1. Fast deployment - Very fast to install and template
              2. Flexibility - Is limited basically by your creativity and skills
              3. DRY - Don't Repeat Yourself follows to templating.
              4. Document hierarchy - Clients understand how the page is show by simply seeing the document tree.
              5. Very modular - Use what you need.
              6. Open - You can enhance, tune, tweak and mod your own but you don't have to.
              7. Very good user and rights management

this is actually the issue that disturbs me the most. The system most likely offers a lot of possibilities, but it is - at least for me - quite hard to understand and not self-explanatory or intuitive at all.

It's very configurable but not simple. I think things like these are the best part of Modx. You can make very granular decisions about things. So it behaves way you wan't it to behave.

The system I currently have to use as a main CMS has very poor user management so I'm willing to learn the way Modx does user management. I've not deployed large userbase projects, mainly two usergroup based so Super Admins (me) and Users (everyone else) in enough. And those have been quite simple to use.

I think CMS:s are like powertools. You can get the cheap ones from your local discount shop basically free and they manage the one thing. But to build a house you need the real PRO stuff which have the manual that weight more than the cheap powertool. And you have to learn to use the tool so you can take full advantage of it. And if you didn't guess already Modx is the PRO version.

I'm not a super user of Revolution (limited by the old php+mysql combo used in many hotels) but I'm learning more and more. And I love it.

Well, this is a long post. Don't want to delete it, so I'll post it. Basically what I'm saying is user management is great once you understand it. And thanks for the team for a great software.
