If you're a web developer—mostly on the programming and back end—please share with us your top 5 reasons for choosing MODX, and, more importantly, what you tell other developers when you're asked about MODX or when you're attempting to save them from another CMS?

We'd love as many answers as possible from as many folks as possible.

      I guess I'll go first:

      • No clutter installs
      • Easy to train clients
      • No code in content or templates: good separation of code etc.
      • No rigid 'plugin' structures.
      • Form Customization for custom views for end users.

        3. Quality of extensions
        4. Ease of use for content editors
        5. Control over who has access to what in backend

MODx is essentially a blank canvas for development.

                • What you put into it, is what you get out of it.
                • No extra markup, i.g. Wordpress plugins adding their own output HTML
                • SEO, Developer & User friendly
                • Admin/Role Control
                • Flexibility of the backend with TVs, Snippets & Chunks

I have many more than 5 reasons, but I'll narrow it down.

                    1. The Managers functionality - I rarely even open Dreamweaver...
                    2. Snippets/Chunks/Plugins are so easy to use
                    3. How easy it is to customize the manager, forms ect.
                    4. Clean code, complete freedom with templating
                    5. The ability to use custom Core and Manager directories

I also want to mention that a huge part of switching to MODX was the fact that the core team is so involved in the community, making themselves available to answer questions and continually improving MODX.

Keep up the amazing work guys!

                      1. Create whatever you want in HTML and CSS and easily integrate it into MODx. MODx gets out of your way and allows you to build whatever you want. I've taken so many static sites and put them into MODx quickly. Can't imagine trying to do this on many other systems.
                      2. Very flexible system allowing developers to create small sites to much larger sites. We've created simple 5 page brochure sites all the way up to document repository applications.
                      3. Logical backend tree structure for organizing a site...clients figure it out pretty quickly.
                      4. Easy to setup SEO in a site.
                      5. Community is very helpful.
