    Hi, All!
I’ve been doing my share of whining about 9.5, and I’d like to point out something more positive.

A client suddenly decided, hey, I want to change my domain name! At first I was somewhat annoyed, but then I went to work. (The new domain had been registered). I copied the MODx files to a new folder, pointed the new domain there, brought up the site, went into the manager there, changed less than a half-dozen settings in admin, and bing-bing-bada-bing, instant new site in about ten minutes!

True, I did have to change some site content to match the new domain and make a new logo, but the infrastructure changes were totally easy. Now that’s a nice system! I don’t think a lot of systems would have been this easy to change.

The client was blown away! I suppose I could have delayed things if I’d been charging by the hour, (nudge-nudge, wink-wink) but that wasn’t the case here. grin

    Great job, folks!

Indeed moving websites is a breeze once you know the few things to edit when doing so, I often switch from local to server and back with no issues smiley

Thanks for the positive feedback grin

And you could use a TV or [(site_name)] or a chunk so you wouldn’t even have to edit the content if you move domains again.

Another related perk is the ability to very quickly clone a production environment and install on a local/development box in the same amount of time! Coupled with how easy Core upgrades are, and you wonder how you survived before MODx wink At least I do.

@Chuck, very good point. I always create a chunk titled {{domain}} for exactly that purpose. I tend to do this over [(site_name)] as I have found it a better practice in my experience. (e.g. client preferences, etc)

True, for some reason there are some glitches with [(site_url)] when you move from one box to another (I experienced some inconsitent behavior here). You can also define $site_url and $base_url in config.inc.php smiley
