    Could you post a screenshot of the TinyMCE plugin properties page from the version that *doesn't* work? It might give us some clues.

    I found a patch to TinyMCE in September that was reported to cause the problem you're seeing:

           if not 'mode' in mce_config:
                mce_config['mode'] = 'exact'
           if mce_config['mode'] == 'exact':
                mce_config['elements'] = final_attrs['id']

    I haven't found that in the code yet, but it looks promising. [ed. note: BobRay last edited this post 14 years, 11 months ago.]

      Fireshot did not make the full page screenshot. So I'm posting settings export files. To show you they are identical.

      I've noticed the following.
      If i uninstall "nonworking" Tinymce 4.3.0 keeping the settings with preserve uninstall mode and install previously working Tinymce 4.2.4. The latter stops working too. The vice verse operation is not suceessfull - 4.3.0. doesnt work with 4.2.4 settings. I wonder what are these settings and where are they stored?

      A little correction - the uninstall mode doesnt matter. 4.2.4 stops working after any uninstall mode untill i delete the whole package and upload it again.

      One more update - i've found the settings. They are left in core/packages/tinymce-xxxx folder even ufter uninstall. But there are lots of files - i'll compare them tomorrow. [ed. note: ztztss last edited this post 14 years, 11 months ago.]

        Mine are the same as well, so we know it's not the properties.

        One approach would be to clone the TinyMCE repository at GitHub and use Git bisect to find the exact commit that caused the problem.

        Unfortunately, many of the commits are not very granular, i.e., one commit might have *many* changes, but we might get lucky.

        Also unfortunately, it would probably be necessary to run a build and install on each commit to be tested.
