    I have moved site to other server..and upgraded it to latest MODx Revolution 2.1.3.
    when i try to see files in
    MODx manager -> Files i see "Access Denied" Error

    I have all my files in /var/www/web
    and this is directory permissions for web (using command ls -l )

    drwxrwxrwx 22 www-data www-data 4096 2011-10-12 12:21 web

    why this is happening ?

    I gone through older forum posts...but the suggestion there are for older versions.

      First off ensure that the owner is in fact that user assigned to your web service (Apache, etc.). If that is correct you might run these two commands to ensure proper file and folder permissions by default:

      find ./ -type f -exec chmod 0644 {} \;
      find ./ -type d -exec chmod 0755 {} \;

      Then rerun your setup for the site to ensure all the ModX path information is correct.

      Another common item that is overlooked is clearing your /core/cache/ folder.

      Cheers

          and second thing i tried clearing the cache and m getting long list of output
          i can see there is one error..something like this
          Resource URI already exists for resource id = 5016; skipping duplicate resource URI for resource id = 5221

          Its a loong list with diff ids and after that few successful messages

          Is it normal ??

            Have you manually deleted the files in the /core/cache/ folder, if not then that would be better at this point since the site was already moved. If you have done that and then completed the other two commands above try re-pushing the ModX site and running setup.

            Your ps aux shows that your file ownership is correct base on basic config options, are you running the suEXEC for Apache? Though I have a tough time believing it's permissions if all the other portions of the site are functioning properly. The best thing, in my opinion, is to manually clear the cache folder and upload your entire site again and finally running setup.

            Cheers

              i completeley deleted cache files...but no luck yet..i still cant access files sad
              i cant run setup again...coz there are many changes that i will need to re-edit.

              Running setup program again is my last option. but before that i want to try each possible option.

                Running the setup as an "Upgrade Existing Install", which is default, will not remove any of your changes.

                    You've said that you've moved this to another server, is this one you manage? and are the file permissions 755 correct?

                    We have 4 servers at work and 2 run on 755 file permissions and 2 have to be 777.

                    Also have you updated the path in the workspaces table in the database, in my experience that doesn't update on a upgrade?

                      @paul :
                      Yes this is managed by me, and output of command "ls - All" shows below result

                      drwxrwxrwx 22 www-data www-data 4096 2011-10-17 17:00 web

                      and i just checked modx_workspaces table and can see its alright there,

                      path is correct "/var/www/web/core/"

                      This is now making me crazy x-/
