I have a site where Wayfinder has duplicated one of the menu items and I cannot determine what is going on.

    MODX Revolution 2.1.1-pl (traditional)
    Wayfinder 2.3.2 pl

    Call
    [[!Wayfinder? &startId=`0` &level=`2` &rowIdPrefix=`page` ]]

This has been working fine, until my client upgraded Wayfinder from 2.3.1 to 2.3.2 at which point the duplicate menu item appeared.

Obviously there is only one resource in the document tree for this item. I can't identify anything different about this particular resource to distinguish it from all the others.

Since I haven't been able to troubleshoot this, I thought I'd just reinstall the previous version, however, I can't find 2.3.1 anywhere to install. I have uninstalled 2.3.2 and resinstalled using package management to no effect.

    So Two questions.

    1. Has anyone seen this problem? Any ideas?

    2. How can I install the previous version of Wayfinder? I see only the most recent version in package management.

    *help*

      Update:

I've managed a work around by creating a new document with the same information and moved all the child documents under the new document and then unpublished the old one. The new document works just as it should and appears only once in the menu. So it appears there is something unique about this document, but I'm unable to determine what it is.

So I'd like like to know if anyone else has seen this.

And how does one find and install a previous version of an add on?

There's a "Previous Versions" tab on the Extras page, but it looks like it's not working right now.

I did see that. I wondered why it was empty.

At this point I don't think I need to reinstall wayfinder, I assume there's a problem with that particular document. The work around I put in place is fine, but my client is concerned, that without understanding the cause, it will happen again.

I've never seen that and don't recall hearing of anyone else experiencing it, so it sounds like a freak accident of some kind.

I looked at the commits for 2.1.3 and there was a change in the format of the cache key. Maybe you ended up with two versions of the resource in the cache because of the transition. If that's the case, clearing the cache would have fixed it (though you probably tried that). If that's the issue, it won't happen again, though I'm not sure if this explanation makes sense or not. Shaun (splittingred) would know.

I doubt very much that it was anything special about that resource.

It might be worth looking in the modx_site_content table in the DB to see how many records there are with that pagetitle and/or alias.

I got that problem as well yesterday after updating to 2.1.3.

It happened on a resource item that was allocated to 2 resource groups simultaneously. Unchecking one of the resource groups for that resource removed the double menu item.

Can anybody replicate this behaviour? If so, there might be an issue with the new Wayfinder version.

                  Bob

Yep, I did clear the cache multiple times.

David's comment causes me to wonder if it is related to the resource situation that he describes. Bob, this is the site where you help me setup the security for that developer to limit their access to a single page. This resource is the parent for those pages he would've been given limited access to.

                  Thoughts?

Hmmm. Did that page belong to more than one resource group? I don't remember. And did the new resource you created only belong to one group (or none)?

I've attached Wayfinder 2.3.0 (couldn't find any other recent versions).

BTW, you may still have 2.3.1 in core/packages. If so, you should be able to uninstall the new one and go back to 2.3.1 in Package Manager.

                      Bob

Yes, the original document belonged to two resource groups. The new document doesn't belong to any resource groups (under the permissions tab).

Thanks for the previous version. Since we have this work around, I think we're good for now. I don't think he needs the extra permissions any longer.

Think we have a little bug in Wayfinder?
