Been a long time since I was here last.

    http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,6901.0.html

The above link takes you to the problem that I had with the 0.9.1 version, this was thank "garryn" resolved.

Now after upgrading and making my changes to the system I have the same problem.

Ive managed to find the document that deals with the output of the document tree (manager/frames/nodes.php) and have modified it to use the longtitle as the shown tree link. The line that has been changed is "Line 90" from "$sql = "SELECT DISTINCT sc.id, pagetitle," to "$sql = "SELECT DISTINCT sc.id, longtitle as pagetitle,"

I now have one small problem: After typing in the Tree Title I save the document and it shows what ive typed in, but when opening the document to edit it again the "longtitle" is no longer there, but it shows in the document tree.

Im not sure if ive explained this very well.

Ive attached a picture of what ive tried to explain, this was made after saving the document, and as you can see in the tree the name is there (Home) but it no-longer shows in the "Long Title" renamed to "Tree Title"

If anyone has a suggestion that would be great.

ps. Before anyone laughs, im not a PHP programmer smiley

Sounds like the document tree isn’t refreshing... Does manually clicking the DocTree refresh icon reveal the expected results? Might want to investigate if you experience the same issue only WITHOUT your modified nodes.php file.

If you can tie it directly to your nodes.php customization, you will have more to go off of. You may also want to research the "Save" process, and how/where the tree is refreshed upon updating a document. ** Note, this occurs in a separate frame ** It likely resides somewhere client-side via JavaScript/DOM reference, etc, might be somewhere completely different.

When changing core-files like above and not knowing preexisting dependencies on the content being changed, always expect a few undesired results. Otherwise, if you were a programmer, I might recommend researching any dependencies so you fully understand the impact of your modifications.
