    Not sure exactly what you mean, but I don't think integrating Tomato with MODx would be possible. Maybe you realize this already and I am misunderstanding you, but you cannot just stick a script into the content field on your MODx resources; it won't run. You have to make it a MODx snippet, and trying to do that with an existing complex ecommerce script would make using Visioncart look ridiculously easy.

    What you could probably do is install Tomato in parallel to MODx and do the rest of your site in MODx. Your store could be in a subfolder or on a subdomain. Downside to that is, you'd have to do your look and feel twcie - once as a MODx template, then again as a Tomato theme.

    I really think Foxycart is probably a better idea smiley

      Okay. I just paid for and downloaded SimpleCart. It's not very helpful as it's not really ready to be deployed with minimal work. I still can't figure out how to get it functioning.

      VisionCart was better, in terms of initial setup and inventory control. It has a lot promise, but it seem whomever is developing it just vanished and didn't finish the job. I'd be happy to donate to the developer that actually wants to develop a complete MODx/Shopping Cart/Inventory add-on.

      FoxyCart is nice, but who wants to pay an additional monthly fee. If I have to do that to have a small cart I may as well go with Prestashop and have all the advantages thereto.

      I suppose that I am just surprised that with all the great MODx developers nobody has come up with a complete application.

        Visioncart, at this point, is becoming a sad story - particularly if you have invested a lot of time into making it work, as we have. The software has tons of potential, but now it seems to be orphaned of any active developers. In my opinion, the core team should consider forking Visioncart. It's very important for any viable CMS to have an ecommerce module.

          @polrbear I agree with you completely.

            With the docs available on its website it's been a breeze for me so far o.O Did you see his docs? They're at http://en.oostdesign.nl/modx-revolution-cms/modx-extras/simplecart-webshop/#docs but only when you are logged in (using Client Login at the top) - I found them to be pretty clear and at least on par with what other addons offer (tho I did find a bug in the docs earlier today).

            I totally don't recognize myself in what you're saying and had the cart up and running in less than an hour (of which the biggest part was finding the docs). Currently am working on a webshop and I spent more time integrating the templates than I did with the integration of the cart (tho I haven't worked on checkout et al yet).

            My experience with VisionCart is far from positive either - I totally believe it's a great component when you know all the ins and outs, but after spending a weekend trying to display a product list I gave up on that. That is nearly six months ago so no doubt the addon itself and the documentation have increased by loads, but I don't think that is ready yet for mass-adoption.

              I have access to the docs too. Still not very clear. Maybe the way I see things on this side of the pond is different than the other side? Anyway, I'm not one to give up that easy so I'll spend some time trying to figure it out. When I do, there will be a much simpler tutorial for more average folks.

                Could be.. me being a dev of course also adds some extra weight to my side of the equation, but it was pretty clear for me to get basic integration working.

                Articles == resources, so I create a new resource and that's a new article. TVs hold extra data. 2 system settings are used to match the price and article number TVs with the SimpleCart back-end.

                This is used in the article list (built using getResources):
                <form action="[[~[[*id]]]]" method="POST">
                    <input type="hidden" name="productid" value="[[+id]]" />
                    <input type="hidden" name="quantity" value="1" />
                    <input type="submit" name="addcart" value="KAUFEN" class="product-buy" />
                  </form>

                and on top of that template I have the following once:
                [[!scAddProduct]]

                And elsewhere in my template I have this to show a summary of the cart:

                [[!scGetCart? &tpl=`cart.tpl` &emptyTpl=`cart.emptyTpl`]]

                cart.tpl:
                <a href="[[~8]]" title="Your Cart" class="cart-status">
                <span>
                  Amount: <strong>[[+cart.total.products]].</strong><br />
                  Total: [[+cart.total.price]] EUR
                </span>
                </a>

                cart.emptyTpl:
                <a href="[[~8]]" class="cart-status">Your Cart is empty</a>

                I haven't set up the checkout for this site yet (tho with a launch on December 11th-ish that wont take long) but if with those examples and the docs you can't figure it out, do let me know. It'll help you get the job done and I'll gain more understanding of SimpleCart by helping where I can.

                  I have been testing SimpleCart as well, and the basics have been very easy.

                  Will make a video tut as soon as my testshop is running. I love the way SimpleCart works, easy to edit and tweak using the normal MODX TV's, Chunks and Temlates.
