VisionCart test

Hi, I'm trying to test VisionCart, I've installed the package and created category + product.

Now I don't know how to show my shop in front end.... what I've to add for front end (add snippet call... other)?

smi_23 is right, but that templating tutorial will only take you so far. If you just want to see the approximate end product of following it, visit my Visioncart test site at http://stagingdomain.info (subject to go away without notice!).

At the moment, the docs for Visioncart are radically incomplete, and the software itself is full of holes. Both of these problems are being worked on, to some extent, by the development team. The best source for information right now is the Visioncart forum. Spend awhile thumbing through there and you'll have a general idea of what you're getting into. A number of salient issues are addressed.

If you're persistent and willing to get your hands dirty up to the elbows, you can make Visioncart work. We just launched a couple of sites with it, to which I can send you links if you PM me.

Thanks for replies.... but SimpleCart is 100% free?? It seems to be better..... is there a tutorial about SimpleCart shop configuration?

Using SimpleCart, my guess is you're most like on your own (apart from any help the developer might be able to offer). It's even newer than Visioncart; the English-language version of its webpage was just published a few weeks ago, and I do not know of there being any documentation. It's also a simpler package that doesn't do nearly as many things, so I'm guessing that most people - like our company - are concentrating on VC if they're doing anything with webshops in MODx.

Yeah. unfortunately that's because it is. Just getting a basic shop through the first tutorial isn't bad, but trying to do anything advanced, with the current level of bugginess in the cart... doable, but never fun.

Have you considered FoxyCart? I've never used or even tried it myself, but it seems to be at least partly hosted and much easier to use. It's free during development and $20 a month thereafter. Might be worth a shot at least.
